He can do both. His NFL responsibilities would likely wrap up in January. He can do a full outdoor slate up to the Championships.
If he's planning on skipping OTA's and mini camps in the spring, he should just quit now, he probably won't be invited back to camp I'd he doesn't show commitment to football.
Pretty much. Throw in he should be doing a crap load of training to be a decent receiver and it is hard to see how you can do both...
Everyone who knows football knew he was going to get cut - it wasn't even close. He'll be on someone's practice squad, if he wants that. He'll probably never make a 53 in the NFL.
Yes, sure, he could play in Canada if he wanted to, as someone pointed out.
It is going to be tough according to a family member who goes to Eagles practices. Allen is not involved in many plays or simply getting balls thrown his way. That's not a good sign, but he did show enough to perhaps get picked up on the practice team or interest from another team.
Your family member cover the team for a media outlet? Because I think maybe one practice was open to fans all of training camp.

I am bummed that he couldn't fulfill his dream of playing in the nfl. Hopefully he now realizes how awesome of a hurdler he his and how many fans he has in T&F and comes back and sets the WR and takes some scalps.
Devon Allen has been signed to the Eagles practice squad. Perhaps, a few injuries to our wide receivers and Allen gets promoted to the 53 man roster later in the season.
A track athlete and a gridiron athlete are two different animals.Track athletes far superior to Allen couldn't cut it in football,Hines,Smith Nehemiah, etc.Bob Hayes is in Canton but he was a football player who dabbled briefly in track,so was Gault.
Allen is an x college football player while those you mentioned weren't. Tons of track/footballers have played NFL football.
Ollie Matson Olympic medalist, Hall of Famer, Bobby Mitchell Big 10 100/hurdlers champ, Hall of Famer, and it goes on and on.....Darrell Green, Rod Woodson, James Owens, Earl McCulloch, Johnny Jobes, Eric Metcalf, and on and on....Mel Renfro world ranked hurdler a Hall of Famer.
All these were football players in the main who also ran track. Deven Allen is a track guy first who also plays football.
Mark my words, Devon Allen will play in the NFL, will play at least 40 games over 3-5 years, and will score some TDs and make some $$$. This is just the beginning, not the end.

Like this past year he will try to do both is how I see it. Let's not over state how many OTAs and minicamps there are....The CBA has the amount of time that teams can have their players in greatly restricted. He can easily pick and choose meets that won't interfere with those NFL obligations. Training Camp is the real issue because World Champs is Aug. 17-23 so I'm not so sure a team would love him leaving right before the season.
Mark Wahlberg made the Eagles at age 35 with no playing experience so anything is possible.
Yeah but Mark Wahlberg is elite of the elite as far as athletes go. That man can do almost anything, no one thinks Devon Allen has that type of raw talent.
He was the 10th receiver out of 10 on the last depth chart, if someone gets hurt, the Eagles will likely sign someone off the street. Allen is a project. Maybe he'll make the team next year.
Lots of deleted posts in this thread, but Devon Allen identifies as black. His dad was black, and Allen was the president of the Black Student Union in high school. Allen speaks out about racial justice too.

So he identifies as privileged, and he's pro continuation of Black Supremacy, where everyone else faces legally enforced discrimination in education, employment, policies, funding. Nice to know.

And he did he make the team this year? Training half assed for football for a year while he tries to remain a hurdler isn't going to help him become a better player. He needs to be running routes not some random meet if he wants to make a team.
This is impressive for someone who hasn't played football in 6 years. He'll make ~$200k over an 18 week period. Hard to top that in T&F.
Can't argue with that. And if a string of injuries hits the team, he could even get called up for a week or two and make a nice bonus on top of that to stand on the sidelines and gun down the field a couple of times on special teams.
