Daily smoker here, it’s more about the individual than anything. Without weed I would still be 300lbs and not able to run more than 300M before having to stop. 18 months later, smoking every night before bed I’m down to 202 running my first half with a goal 1:25 (nothing fast i know but considering where I was when I started I’m thrilled)
In my experience the pros have far outweighed the cons. My sleep and recovery is better than any point in my life. The infrequent/mild PTSD I have had since my enlistment is a non issue which will be difficult for most people to understand but it really is the only thing that worked and left me feeling myself. Lastly it has made me a better husband and father. I’m not going to bars/breweries as frequently , I’m bright eyed and bushy tailed when my kid wakes up 5:30-6AM, and I’m not wound down tight from daily stress so daily interaction with my wife is not clouded by the noise from my day. I’m sure it’s not for everyone but I talk about it frequently to non smokers to share my personal experiences in the event that it could help them in the same manner.
