The only reason they could be DQed would be the interference with France. No issue with dropping the baton. I hope it doesn't happen; I want to see them in the final.

According to NBC crew, due to not actually passing the baton. Nothing about interference.

You are wrong. Dropping the baton isn't a problem. But they dropped it before the hand off was complete. Therefore Klaver needed to pick it up and hand it off to Peeters. Instead Peeters picked it up. DQ.

Not that it was ever in doubt, but the Netherlands were arguably the #2 team up against Jamaica. Final got a lot easier for US with this.
Guy on peacock says rules are rules which I understand but I think rules are also written as if teams are trying to get an advantage - certainly no advantage gained there. Unless as someone said it’s for interference - hope it’s not for batton.

Not true. You can drop the baton and pick it up and keep going. But you have to complete the hand off. Klaver dropped the baton before completing the hand off. So Klaver needed to pick it up and then hand it off to Peeters.
Unfortunately, the #3 impeded France and got the DQ.
Rule 24.6
If dropped, the baton shall be recovered by the athlete who dropped it. They may leave their lane to retrieve it provided that, by doing so, they do not lessen the distance to be covered. In addition, where the baton is dropped in such a way that it moves sideways or forward in the direction of running (including beyond the finish line), the athlete who dropped it, after retrieving it, must return at least to the point where it was last in their hand, before continuing in the race. Provided these procedures are adopted where applicable and no other athlete is impeded, dropping the baton shall not result in disqualification.

The DQ was pretty clear. The Dutch runner went into another lane and impeded another runner while trying to pick up the dropped baton.
Looks like it is going to be USA vs. Jamaica in the final.
My stream is frozen on Spain’s Santidrian. Must be a sign from above?
Great to see Eli Hall involved in this he ran on that NCAA record Houston team. The indoor NCAA 200 record holder and a 9.90 cat this year.
I challenge you to cite that exact rule from the manual. Been in the sport 40 years and it’s never come up.
Poland underperformed.
