Not everyone totally believed Mo Farah's trafficking story, but the documentary aired Wed night, what do you think now?

what i dont understand is why his siblings (check wiki), all are named "farah". it makes no sense if "mo farah" is another persons name. Are these siblings not his real siblings? I googled one of them and apparently he migrated to UK too (illegally too? trafficked too??), but at age 20 he committed a fellony (knife crime) and was sent back to somalia. Mo Farah estranged himself from this brother.

The scandal and risk associated with revealing this during his running career was obviously not a good idea. It is safer to reveal this after he has won favour with the public.

The documentary took about 2 years to make, and it is clear that he is starting to think about this more now he is winding down. During his career it would have been an unwelcome distraction.

Correct they are not his siblings. His real twin used the surname 'Farah' publicly when Mo introduced him to the media to protect Mo.

It's not that hard to understand; he was illegally trafficked to the UK, given the identity 'Mohammed Farah' and lived with Muktar Farah's family where he worked as a house servant.

I met a kid who joined me for some hill reps in a local park about 15 years ago who claimed to be Mo's cousin. Now your first thought would be he made it up bu this is before he won any global medals and only people in running new his name. He never mentioned anything about a different name.

On the other hand if Mo was lying where is his mum. Was the original story not that he came here with his mum. That would be pretty easy to check out and its interesting that you never heard anything about his Mum in the press either

I think the original story was that he came with his parents, but that's been changed to sent off by his parents to the UK via a 'trafficker' pretending to be his aunt. Not sure if Mo is claiming that his (real) parents did this for financial reward. In any case, his mother apparently lives in a shed in rural Somalia and Mo hasn't provided anything for her financially, despite his wealth.

Maybe his mother sent him off for a better life for him and paid money to the trafficker or maybe she got some money for pawning him off. What does it matter either way? In a war torn land with a dead father, his mother was probably desperate to find a way to provide for all her children.

Mo reconnected with his mother in 2000. We don’t know that he hasn’t helped her or his brothers financially at all.

He didn’t say he didn’t know Aden, only that Aden wasn’t coaching him. In any case, if the point is that he might have been doping over the years, it’s too late for that to become a statement of fact now. He never failed a test and that’s the only thing that matters. The other incidents you mention seem not worth the attention.

He has many many fans in the U.K. and across the world for being the distance GOAT he is, and has been knighted. That’s a lot of goodwill he has deservedly earned.

Pls allow me. He did a lot of shady things during His career. No One can deny This. He didnt acknowledge His Friendship w dope captain Aden. N let me just say doorbell, Salazar n L carnitine. Those are some pretty shady stuff IF u are initiated like the LRC crowd is.

I also find it remarkable that he hasnt provided for His Mother. I dont think he was trafficked. It was more like an arrangemang gone wrong. His or extended family prolly sent him to UK to live with a somali family. THE farahs i assume. Maybe they were Friend of Friends. What happened at their home n whos version is rite only god knows. I Still have a Hard Time to believe that he didnt change His name. If not before so definitely after he got His Citizenship in 2000. Many People, both more famous n unknown do it every year. He def seem to have a hateed towards THE farahs.

The default is to believe what a person says unless you can establish a compelling motivation for the person to lie about something like this or have objective evidence to the contrary. In this case, the only plausible motivation I’ve heard stated is for him to make some more money off his second book, which seems weak. The accusations that he *might* be lying are just speculations.

It is not that unreasonable for a person to be ashamed of their past of involuntary servitude and try to hide it with white lies.
