I am not saying Carl Lewis is not an all-time great but it seems as if you want to dismiss everything a current track athlete does today.
Decathlon bests in his two best events (100 and long jump) are 10.12 and 27 feet. So he has bettered both of those but very different when doing a decathlon. Eaton ran a 45.00 400 which is pretty stout. I think Boling could run around a 46.00 during a decathlon. I think he could run a fairly quick high hurdles with sufficient training. He is a big guy so I think he could eventually do pretty well in the shot, discuss and javelin.
Incidentally, if one was to break the WR in every even he would score about 12,500.

I think Carl Lewis was otherwordly. But as collegians you have to give the edge to Boling. And not a tiny edge either. Lewis blossomed after college. Who knows what Boling will do in 3 years.
There was a bit of a bell curve with Carl Lewis' sprinting ability. We know U.S. and numerous other nations boycotted 1980 Summer Olympics. If no U.S. boycott of 1980 Summer Olympics, Carl Lewis would have earned an Olympic medal as a long jumper. Carl Lewis would not have represented in U.S. as a 100m &/or 200m sprinter, 1980 if I recall correctly. I believe Lewis in 1980 was a fast enough sprinter to have been an alternate on U.S. 4x100m relay, 1980 Olympics.

I agree that Boiling beats Meyers PBs in the 100, 400 and LJ.
Boling is a nice athlete, no doubt. I wish he had a chance to quietly work his way into becoming a medal contender in any event on a modern world stage against specialists but in all reality, hes not there yet. Only time and improvement will tell. Against his own countrymen, he will struggle to make an Olymic team. WR talk is certainly fanboy hysteria allowed by the internet which isnt even about Boling, its about you.
As far as comparing him to Lewis, please stop. Its a ridiculous proposition. Start with Jesse Owens and what he did in very little time as a Buckeye at the Big 10 meet as a collegian and go from there.
As far as his decathlete chances....well Id put Grant Holloway up against anyone who dares but hes not currently interested.
Boling has more IG followers than CL. If Boling can make the Olympic team in the 200m, that will be a solid accomplishment. If he has a lot of personality, he could make good money off endorsements and advertising.
Why all of the Matt Boling threads? I mean he’s good, but the obsession is a bit creepy. It’s sort of like the obsession with Katelyn Tuohy and, to a lesser extent, Abby Steiner.
To answer your question, I would say the long jump. He has virtually no chance of 100 & 200 WRs.
It's almost like people are interested in the progress of young up-and-coming phenoms.
