Whitelaw had never coached a day in his life before "taking" an SEC job. She literally pulled a kid she coached while he was at UT (and was her puppy dog) off the street to hold a watch and clipboard for the year.

They may... but pretty sure it's the writing of the workouts, managing athletes, and setting up race plans and execution that we are talking here. The stopwatch holders are typically the "Recruiting Coordinators" and assistant coaches. Whitelaw never wrote a workout or handled an athlete at UT...that was Beth. Now you want him handling it all?

Ross will do and distribute scholarship allocation as he sees fit. He has several NCAA team trophies and didn't score a single point in distance events, and did it at a less than mid-major program. Let Ross do what Ross does.

Could see Ross going sprints and distance model. With the distance coach being stated as a top priority could be a reasonable assumption. Just go light or non investment with field events.

Still don't know why Ross won't bring his distance coach (Barrett). Not a big name but will get the job done.

I’m sorry but at this point Barrett had plenty of years to progress. Ross will want a younger coach he can mold Into what is needed at tennessee. You guys are way off thinking he would hire vanhoy. I doubt he would want a guy that already has a supreme set up that guy is obviously going to want so much more than Ross wants to give. He’s going to most likely pick a young mid major guy/gal who has had solid results with little to nothing and will be grateful and bust ass with no aid.

Like Danny White knows anything about distance running or distance coaches. Why would the AD give a damn what events the points are coming from if Tennessee becomes a podium (top 4 team) contender annually at the NCAA Track & Field Championships?

I'll coach the distance runners at UT. I probably already out coach half the D1 coaches as it is.
