People who were in a bad marriage for a long time and finally divorced, what was the turning point/last straw?

Yup this is really accurate. It is possible to maintain a passionate, long term relationship, but it requires effort. You and your partner should be spending time together alone at least once per week. If you don't do this, expect your relationship to fall off a cliff

This all seems so interesting to me. I know two people in my life right now who have had pretty much opposite responses, both are women. Woman 1 was in a happy, LTR, married, and had just had a baby. She found out that her husband (been with for 8 years) had been on dating apps for years, though he claims to have never physically cheated, and there is no proof of that, though she's unsure. She still pretty much immediately decided on divorce.

Woman 2 is in a miserable marriage, has been unhappy, if not miserable, for years, has explicitly said she neither loves nor respects her husband, doesn't even like him. She cheated on him with someone for months before he found out, yet they're still together several months later, and it doesn't appear they will divorce even though things are now worse than ever (the affair just caused more turmoil; no constructive discussion or changes). They'll just continue being miserable. They have three kids, oldest is 15.

So interesting to me the different reactions people have to these sorts of things.

Interesting, I'm at 15 years now and I can't imagine getting this close to anyone else but my wife as I'm not that young and open anymore. But having sex 2-3 times per year is making me seriously unhappy.

Even when there is a big blow up and you call it quits on the spot, it is almost always an accumulation of things. It is usually when something is bad and you realize it is never going to get better. People in a healthy marriage have sex; however, people don't usually get divorced because of sex, but sex is usually the canary in the coal mine for other things. Divorce is a horrible thing, perhaps second only to death.

For me, it was finding out my husband had cheated on me for the second time, and with a woman waaay older than me (old enough to be his mom, with change to spare) who was homely at best and overweight. It just made him seem unattractive.

I still don't know how many women he cheated on me with but a college friend told me he cheated on me with her when he told her we had just broken up some years earlier. I suspect there was at least one other woman during the marriage, but probably more.

We were having sex 5 or 6 times a week at the time too, so it must have been when I was away with work.

I had to get an STD test during Covid. Until all this happened, I had no idea my soon to be ex husband was anything like this at all. So I guess it was kind of like finding out he was a swindler.

I used to think my ex was good looking, but all I see now is a sleazeball with shifting eyes.

We were married for 5 years and friends for 12. We were at a friends party and decided to take Mdma for the first time to switch things up and have adventure. We ended up efffing on mdma in the bedroom that night and it was the best time of our lives. After that she didnt stop asking about it and tried to get my friends number to see if we could get more. We ended up getting more and began a months long binge which ended up with her realizing she also wanted to try mdma with other guys and (now) girls as well. Her desire literally was impossible to end. She said it was more real on it so she started questioning everything. Literally the best time we ever had in the bedroom ans nothing compared to it. She broke up with me 6months later and met some other guy and yeah idk that was it. No line really crossed, it was worse, just slowly seeing someone become different. Is she an addict and I feel bad? Was it all a lie? Sex is not the same anymore. Sex compared to mdma is not nothing as far as the “pleasure” and “desire” go. Maybe mdma doesn’t create love but definitely you break through that thing you were always sexually desiring and it keeps going after that. My advice would be once you get married realize you shouldn’t take new drugs together. You actually don’t know the other person that well and if you do it’s only within a limited function of parameters in life. Once someone does a drug it changes them so you really are just throwing dice at your life. Same for weed. If your wife starts smoking randomly this can definitely bring some new “experiences” but this also can end things. Ying, yang applies to all

Lol. You shouldn’t take it. It’s not better “sex” it’s more like you don’t even understand what “sex” or effing good is until you’ve done it. In another perspective it just takes your soul. I’m being logical but honestly I’m glad I took it. You reach that thing you are looking for but don’t realize you are looking for. Mdma grows “Desire”. It lets you feel it. On a biological level all the sensory nerves in your body fire and you “feel” more. It’s that bad. You’re different after. You’re morals change. There a reason Jeff Epstein was taking it. Everyone who takes mdma understands something about “power” and “sex” that you can’t otherwise. Like you are going to die. In mdma you totally realize this and also how good sex is. Idk I don’t recommend anyone taking it, but it’s basically heaven. The words heaven and hell are about specifically things that actually happen if you let go of control.

This sounds quite terrible to me, honestly. I don't think I would want to experience something so good that afterwards I didn't think sex was very good by comparison. That sounds like a very dangerous thing to mess with. I'm not anti-drugs in general, but this just doesn't sound like a good idea. Appreciate your explaining and thoughts.
