Fired on Sep 30th of last yr, worked in orthopaedics. Was submitting to daily testing even though PCR tests are meaningless.

Refused to get “jabbed”

Never called out sick in 3 yrs working there.

Now all the jabbed workers there are sick and “there’s a healthcare shortage”

Getting $900 a month in unemployment.

Not looking as CA is nuts right now.

I’m grateful for the time off, but very bitter as I helped many people for years and worked through “the pandemic”. Now supposedly I’m a risk. Whatever. Many think I deserved this but for me the risk of the jab is not worth my health. As I’m witnessing my former colleagues, you can’t help others if you’re sick yourself. Nothing selfish about caring for yourself.

Should have done the team thing and got the jab, instead of the intellectual wankerism thing sucking on your thumb until you turned blue.

Getting a vaccine would have been safe and you are now a pariah.

Can't say I am sympathetic.

I was 33 years old, with a masters of engineering and was underemployed my whole career. Applying and getting into medical school was one of the best things I've ever done in my life. For the first time in my life school was fun and I did really well. Last night I did a volunteer shift at a community clinic. You know you like your job when you do it for free.

Getting into medical school was really tough and took me 3 years of night school and 2 rounds of applications. It really strained my marriage despite full spouse support. I almost needed a 3rd round and I wasn't sure if I had that in me. What worked in the end was becoming super proactive calling up schools and emailing them to keep reminding them my application existed in their giant stack. And before that getting help from every friend and friend of friend. I would ask everyone to look over my application material and to do practice interviews with me, and if they knew some one at medical schools to give them a call and say hey read that application. Then I started to get interview offers.

It was amazing to me how even with really high test scores and grades how hard the push back was against an older applicant with an engineering background. I really don't think they believed that I was serious about medical school. My first interview I didn't get accepted, but I was given feedback by the school that I didn't convey any passion for medicine o.0 . From then on right from the start I would say look, this is my passion, look at the years I've put in already, don't think this is some passing whimsy. I still get it today when burnt out doctors tell me that I am crazy and stupid for switching to medicine. They all tell me they wish they had done engineering.

I work in biotech in Berkeley, California, and it’s the same story at my company. Most of the company has been out sick these past two weeks, and ALL of them are fully vaccinated.

I don’t see why or how this would be on the news. Nobody in our company is going to report it to the media. We just do what we can to get through it.

Makes me appreciate my job which isn't stellar or that interesting anymore, but it pays the bilsl and I like the people. It's easy to forget what unemployment is like.

I was about to bust on you for not being vaccinated. Then you pointed that out - and it's absolutely true.

Between our last Presidential election and the pandemic, one thing I've learned is that we're a country full of idiots, and it starts at the top.

I men, not really. They advertise *up to* $19 an hour, but the fine print is that you can earn that much as a manager, with experience, etc. Most people are still being hired at $13-15 an hour.
