Molly Seidel, Sara Hall and Emma Bates named to US marathon team for the World Track and Field Championships

    Nobody questions her talent or marathon potential. Had she not gotten injured she would have raced Seidel, Frisbie, Thweat, Taylor and had a chance to earn a spot. Sisson just needs to be healthy and great results will follow.

    Did Sisson even put her name in the hat for this, though? Obviously she didn't meet the criteria for selection, but would she even want to be selected? Her longest race in 2021 was 15KM. In 2020 she completed 0 marathons (DNF the trials). It's been nearly 3 years since her last and only marathon finish (2:23:08 in London).

    She is probably our most talented road racer -- maybe ever. I would take her over any American in any race up to the half, and if I knew she was focused on it, I think she probably beats Molly Seidel most of the time in the marathon, too.

    Race starts at 6:15am. In Eugene that’s pretty mild, even in summer

    This. Unless there is another abnormal heat bubble the weather at an early start time of 6-7 am will likely be in the 50s and warm up to maybe 70s on a hotter day by the end of the race. This isn’t the Midwest. Humidity is low and we have 30 degree temp swings at night. Fairly ideal for a summer marathon. Compared to anywhere else in the country.

It's very hard to double back in that short a time frame and succeed in bad conditions. Just ask Cam Levins - wins the Prague marathon and gets standard, then totally blows up in Tokyo and comes what, 70th or something?

    Yep. It’s all these hobby jogger softies that look to blame their lackluster performance on anything but their training. Won’t be great weather, but should be good enough. It’s not like their won’t be water on the course.

    Sure she is super talented BUT she also has not run a marathon recently and focussed more on the track. So why should she be on the team? She had a really good debut and then nothing else after. But she is definitely the future of womens marathoning in the US.
