You're taking people who are not only literate but are computer literate, have an internet connection and have access to and most likely own a computer/laptop/smartphone with internet access. That puts it ahead for a start. Then there's the correlation with distance running and IQ. You have a large proportion of college athletes (i.e. further education) - that sways it.
Letsrunners as a group probably doesn't include the same amount of people in institutions, with learning disabilities, Down's syndrome and so on as 'American people'.

Even the literacy factor on its own would probably mean that the IQ of letsrunners > IQ of 'American people'/or any country's people.

Yes, very good post. I would also think the average poster is above average population. Just looking at the linguistic quality of most post, there aren't that many mistakes. Also considering many poster's poster's don't have English as their mother tongue.
