Agreed. It is difficult to understand where to properly rank QBs who one never saw play.

IMHO, Otto Graham belongs on any such list. Being the QB on a team that makes it to the equivalent of the Super Bowl every single year is Brady-esque. I doubt he was as good as Brady just because the competitive level has risen so much over the decades but Graham belongs on any top ten.

Another whom I saw play quite a bit is Roger Staubach. He is very underrated in most of these such lists. I'd put him ahead of Ben, Marino, Favre and Brees.

The irony is nobody gives Staubach credit because he played with Tony Dorsett, Drew Pearson and Tony Hill. today, you can't get any credit unless you play with a stud RB and two great WRs or TEs.

Haha I thought I might have been misremembering details, because it was one of those mythological events from when I was really into football when I was younger. I loved that aspect to him. Also loved Favre for that reason - getting so fcked up in his last game with the Vikings and just going back out there again and again. That grit. That really does count for something in a person's legacy IMO, and it's a point against Peyton and TB in my book. But still, doesn't get Ben over the hump.

Kurt Warner should be considered. High peak, despite a late start. Made 3 Super Bowls (winning one and getting Super Bowl MVP in the process), 2 MVP awards, led the league in every major passing category at least once, most multiple times.

Also, Warner has 3 of the top passing performances in football history, and his playoff stats are maybe the best of any quarterback ever.

I don't care about his religious values, but he has a 102 passer rating in the playoffs (highest of all-time), and he has 3 of the top 6 passing yard games in history of the Super Bowl.

And you are right, Bradshaw doesn't have the same stats but he played a different game. What an arm. Both of them did what was needed to win games.

Ok getting back to Big Ben.

Stat wise he is without question a top 10er, now add his two SB rings.

Keep in mind he did his thing vs far superior defenses than the old timers faced, how many 4.4 cornerbacks in the days of Otto Graham, hell his fullback Marion Motley was bigger than most D linemen.

Johnny U had Lenny Moore, Ray Berry, John Mackey all future Hall of Famers to throw to. Hall of Fame tackle in Jim Parker.

I saw all those lists up above, no way ya can have a real list unless Big Ben is somewhere around 8-10ish.

The entire point of the sport is to win the Super Bowl. Just wanted to mention that.

That’s the most important stat.

Quarterback is the leader of the team on the field.

That’s why Daniel Komen isn’t a GOAT despite crazy times. He didn’t win many meaningful races.

Trivia update: I did not realize until just looking it up that Otto Graham played one season in the National Basketball League (precursor to the NBA). In that one season he won the NBL championship.

Many don't know it but Bradshaw was the National High School record holder in the javelin despite just messing with it now and then.

Easy Answer, Bradshaw won 4 super bowls and probably their best team ('76) had 5 offensive starters out for the AFC Championship game including two 1000 yard rushers (Harris/Blier) and lost to an excellent Raiders squad. They were decimated with injuries to start the season 1-4. Then they won 9 in a row to finish 10-4. During that 9 game stretch they gave up 28 total points. Opponents put up 6, 0, 0, 0, 3, 16, 3, 0, 0. I know I am straying off the subject but that was probably the top defensive stretch ever played in the NFL.

it wasn't messing with it now and then at all, he was serious about the javelin.

Bradshaw had 212TD's 210 INT's, his comp% was terrible as was his passer rating. He was lucky to be on a team with 8 future HOFers, any other team we aren't talking about him at all.
