I, too, think that there is some bias (imagine how the board would explode if Jacob or Cole or Molly ran a record like this!). Nevertheless, I think it also shows the sad state of the sport that we can't get excited any longer by world record performances, which are suspect in a number of levels.

Aregawi looks like a serious contender to break the 5k track world record next year. He may be the next Bekele.
I think we are going to see Aregawi take over the 3k to 5k range next year and Cheptegei to reclaim his 10k title next year and Barega second in both. Kiplimo is still a mystery to me. Not sure if he will ever win a global track title or a marathon title. I could see him being the next Tadesse, a half marathon specialist.

A contender, sure; but unless you’re an outlier as Katir, 15 secs from his current fitness (or 9 if we are converting his road run to a 12:44) is quite a jump.

The guys here think that Yakob Inge-whatever, an above average runner at best, is the second coming of Jesus. He is the best at whatever he does! All he has to do is win one 5k race and that will be interpreted to mean that he can crush everyone else in that distance, or the 10k, or whatever it is he wants to compete in. He'll win whatever distance he wants to try, or so they claim.
Any other runner, especially the black Africans? They are doping, lying about their age, or just inferior to Inge-whatever. Inge-whatever is god.
Once you see them for what they are, none of their stupid and ridiculous arguments is surprising.
Finally, someone besides me who calls out the Ingebrigtsen favoritism. His fans are so delusional, they'll claim the guy can do literally anything including moving down to the 8 or up to the marathon and instantly dominate.

That's absurd. Kiplimo has more potential than all of those guys.
Well. Jakob did win the Olympics in the 1500m. He still has the most impressive range out of all the runners in the mid and long distance scope. He is a dominant force either winning or coming second in whatever race he competes.
