Will there be any NFL games this weekend? 4% of players have tested positive in 2 days. What does this mean for all other sports

People dying from other causes like heart disease don't die in waves and spikes. The death rates from those non-infectious causes is steady. And even controlling for factors like age, the deaths amongst the non-vaxxed are multiple times higher.

There are about 1500 people a day dying from covid and it's about to get a lot higher so clearly it is still very lethal for some groups. That's not a trivial number. But I'm with the gov of CO on this. We are under no obligation to protect the unvaxxed because they have made their choice, but there should be strong disincentives to make their lives more difficult.

As far as postponing/cancelling games, it makes no sense. If we cancel games for 2 weeks then start up a bunch more people will just test positive again. So do we just keep cancelling? Change the protocols so that if you are vaxxed and not showing symptoms you can play, even if you test positive. People that just come in contact and don't test positive can play also. Unvaxxed players who test positive still need to sit out.

It means that it is the common cold, and, just like when 5-10% of players have a common cold, life goes on.

Yes, many people are dying every day from vaccine side effects.

That's right, I wouldn't want you to protect me if my life depended on it! Damn right I made a choice because I'm one healthy, top fit mofo: I blew through the supposedly big, bad "Delta" variant last Sept experiencing only mild symptoms that self-resolved without needing medical intervention whatsoever! Lol. It's the obese, unhealthy, sickly, elderly, etc, people that have a bunch of comorbidities that are clogging up the hospitals. You don't get it. We are all paying the price for those 1500 deaths a day. That's why we have mask mandates and restrictions. If everyone just got the virus and it was like a cold and no one died we would be able to just carry on. It doesn't matter if most of the people that die are old, obese and unvaccinated. They are still dying and filling up hospitals so we are all still stuck with this until they stop.

The NFL moved a bunch of games, the NHL cancelled a bunch of games, the Premier League postponed a number of games, and the NBA postponed a number of games. 9% of the NFL is in COVID protocols, 8% of the NBA, three NHL teams have been shut down for weeks, etc. The NFL basically had to change their guidelines.

Irrelevant point. Even if it were to be as harmful as the other known/marketed variants, it would be no reason to stop healthy people (including NFL players) from going about their business.

It means absolutely nothing in the nfl. They may limit crowds but the games will happen. The nfl playing is almost a reliable as death and taxes. Now Ivy League athletes should probably be worried lol. If you can really call people who play sports at Ivy League schools athletes hahaha. Just kidding. A few Ivies have some bad @ss wrestling teams with some hammers.

Nfl is a business first amd foremost. They have pushed adamantly that players get vaccinated (while not forcing it because they respect peoples rights and freedoms unlike some institutions). They do this to establish good public relations because the public in general is their customers. They don't need a bunch of indoctrinated people tuning out and tanking ratings due to politics. No nfl player has died or will die from covid, despite many qualifying as obese, which makes a mockery of the media's fear mongering of the lab created and released virus. So they moved a couple games a couple days for postponement. It's just a song and dance to make sheep believe they're "doing the right thing." This doesn't actually affect the season at all because it will still finish on the originally scheduled date--which is the priority number one.

I completely disagree. The NFL doesn’t care about doing the right thing. They are king and nothing can change that. Domestic violence, kneeling, replacement refs, gruden… it’s all white noise.

They moved the games so the games are watchable. No one wants to watch a depleted browns team get wrecked.

Move the game two days —> million more views. Million more dollars.

This is spot on. I would add you forgot a couple of other things the NFL doesn’t care about: PED use and concussions. The importance of player safety isn’t even close to the importance of TV ratings.
