I do agree with you.
My opinion is that the actual number of these people that are truly racist(let's not water down the term until it has no meaning any longer) is quite small, and these people are also quite stupid.
I would say most are critical of someone for reasons other than race, and they have a bias due more to tribalism than racism...though it is easy to mix up the two. It's more a disagreement of ideology. And I think someone's ideology tends to be determined by whether they decide their stances on issues more with emotion(caring) or logic(which can also be caring.
I would neither describe myself as progressive nor conservative, but I can tell you they do care about the same issues...they just see the route to a solution differently then one another. And instead of hearing each other out, they just label the other side as "evil" and it's really unproductive. Can't we all just respect each other and make an attempt to communicate effectively?
