Exactly! I would think that T&F/Running/Marathons/XC would have a bigger following then cycling.

In order to grow the fan base, we need to make these races MORE accessible. That means making them free.
Apt username. The viewership for this race wouldn't have increased by even 25% with advertizer subsidy making it "free." It was actually a superior experience without the ads, worth it for most any fan though all you impoverished lower class fans do have my sympathies. Bootleggers and their accomplices helped you out, so your gripes are even further irrelevant.
NBCSN certainly isn't free.

Watching marathon coverage on TV truly is boring. This sucks to admit as someone who loves the sport and follows it closely. It's just nowhere near as appealing as football or basketball(although I turned the NBA off last season because I was sick of their politics).
I live in Chandler, so I found a way into the race. It was actually a perfect spectators course. I was almost constantly cheering on athletes that I recognized.
