1 hour 46 mins running. Along the creek trail, the creek isn't flowing but does now have some decent pools after recent rain. Flocks of rosellas, a couple of herons, screeching cockatoos.Started as a shuffle but soon running along at a reasonable clip.
Across the creek then across the highway and up to the cemetary and beyond pushing it to the top of the hill with the big watertank. As usual a big mob of roos up there, most of them happily dozing under the trees.
Followed the old rail trail back toward Pink Cliffs then up a steep track to Red Hill, working hard up the climb.
Some trail blazing/bush bashing through the back of the cliffs and out to Hird Rd. This caused quite a commotion among the marsupial population of this area.
Back into the bush at Possum Gully/Argyle forest. Found some vaguely familiar sandy trails, nice and shady (temps now 30 plus). Wound my way through the forest striding out on these secondary trails past old gold diggings. Once again plenty of marsupialian commotion.
Across Spring Flat and onto Ring Track. Lots of tree creepers on the ironbarks and grey box through here. Spotted the rare square tailed kite, they have a nest nearby.
Looped around this part of the forest and came back to Spring Flat. Ran down to the highway, stretching out some tiring legs. Crossed over then down to the floodway at the creek. Ran home along the creek on roo trails, the rough footing slowing the pace to a nice recovery jog.
Showered, dressed, fed, off to work. Sitting on a crazy guy while he tried to kick the crap out of us. Breaking up fights in the high needs unit. Grape picking season is just a few weeks away. Mmmm, dealing with crazy psych patients in a claustrophobic locked up building, picking grapes in the sunshine?? Decisions, decisions.
