This thread was originally titled, "Incredible development in the $612,000 Transcon Goodge run, currently ongoing" but the new title is more descriptive. The description of the run is here.
Accessing data and analyzing data are two very different things.
A classic SOTG narrative flip flop from the 2024 transcon season:
SOTG : #3291 Your side continued to harrass Ashley Paulson even after she released her Garmindata, you will do the same to PJ. And from the Ashley Paulson thread, your side also had no idea how to analyze data exactly like in this thread and I had to correct your mistakes back then as I'm doing now in the data. This is far from my first rodeo.
*** It is widely known in the running community that Harvey Lewis was one of the elite runners spearheading this effort to ask for a scrutinize the AP Data even after it was released ***
SOTG : #3749 Renowned ultra runner and author Harvey Lewis is the latest boots on the ground that has run with PJ for the final 26.2 miles of the day and endorses PJ's fundraising for charity! In your face, haters! PJ is winning and you still have trouble plotting graphs of the data in Excel without me correcting all your basic mistakes.
Does SOTG not know the there are two Harvey Lewis's? One of course a runner but he is NOT an author, he is a school teacher. Harvey Spencer Lewis, the author, died in 1939 and plagerized several sections of The Mythical Life of Jesus which he authored in 1929. Classic SOTG. Fails at Google the same as he fails at besting Will Cockerell. lol.

More fun incoming people with plenty writing to alert me to another runfluencer announcing they're the greatest multidayer in history. As we know PJ gave up in this delusion after 3.7 days, but not before humungous fundraising for expenses and kudos; and now Nedd Brockmann is saying he's going to take out the legendary Kouros on October 3rd, and dismantle his 10.4 days for the 1,000 mile run.
Totally outrageous and unthinkable of course. I have mused that Brockmann is a 13 day man and a connoisseur shot back, "15". I can't find any ultra performances of note for NB.
Note how the runfluencers just keep ratcheting up the richter scale more and more and more...:
Goodge, fastest Englishman, for half a million. Johnson fastest Transconner, for a million. And now Brockmann fastest 1,000m for 10 million.
Isn't it a coincidence how all the influencers also happen to be the greatest runners in history [according to them].
There are others too in the mix like Robbie "faster than a speeding car" Balenger and Russ's first trip across Africa [according to him], in a dreadful time, and a lot going back to Rich Roll who was given the title of his "one of the fittest men in the world" but doing Kona equivalent 5 times. Why not just do it once, but, you know, with some quality?
Then we have plenty of Matt Choi types batting a lower level, and of course one of the granddaddies, Rivett, claiming the Jogle WR by 10% as a complete unknown, which has stood since 2002, and slated to last forever by all reasonable projections.
I will never understand why people think that unknowns can beat world records in multidaying. It's so odd, but shows how misunderstood the sport is.

As someone who has competed with Yiannis Kouros and ran across Australia, I can say that this will not happen. Nedd Brockman will not even get two days of 100 miles in.

Well, what he may do is
117, 88... which all influencers say is "5 miles up on schedule." But anyone with a single braincell can see the chart, which indicates 82, 79, 76 incoming... then what?

Will, have you ever tried being less abrasive than 40-grit sandpaper? Maybe that's why all these runners are a lot more popular than you. We will need to tie you to a chair on the loop where Brockmann will do his run so that you can witness the entirety of it non-stop.

Brockmann will not dismantle anything. This guy is so far away from Kouros performance level, it's not even funny. But it will be fun to watch. Please inform us when this is happening.
Sheer gaslighting. I call out a mid-packer for say he'll be the greatest in history, and you call me abrasive.
Nedd is playing a risky game by shooting so high. Kouros is the Tiger Woods of multidaying, and Nedd is equivalent of a 6-handicapper. Already kicking off on his page - thanks to me.
He can hide behind raising 10 mil for charity if he likes, but we all know the fabulous income they get from it. Just for spouting b/s.
Lucky for us the Sri Chinmoy 10 day just concluded. Bud Byambaa, arguably the best multi day runner at present was the only runner to break 800 miles at 813.

Shouldn't be a problem for Nedd Brockman who ran 53 mile days through Australia.
This Brockmann development is the perfect illustration of how crazy, arrogant, ignorant and basically fraudulent these runfluencers are now being. Say literally anything and savour the worship from "the mice in their million hordes, from Ibiza to the Norfolk broads."
How dare you disrespect Will C like that. Will is an honorable man going above and beyond to preserve integrity in our sport. If you are against his efforts, then you are against integrity.
We are lucky to have Will posting here. He should be commended for his contributions to our sport.
@neddbrockmann Nedd Brockmann, a 23 year old electrician from Forbes, had a goal: To run across Australia. Faster than anyone ever has. He wanted to inspire people to do more. More for themselves and more for the homeless. Wh...
This post is not meant to start a fight and there is no intended criticism of anybody.
On Strava, if I select one of my own activities and click on the 3 horizontal dots at the bottom of the left hand column, there is the option to 'export original' which is presumably the original data that I uploaded from my watch. This option does not appear when I view someone else's activity.
So my question is this:
Is it possible to get the original data from someone else's activity or not? If the answer is 'yes' then could someone please explain in very simple steps how you do it, bearing in mind that my computer programming skills only extend to 1981 Sinclair BASIC. Apologies in advance if anyone feels that they have already answered this- it's just that I've read very definite claims that it is and isn't possible. I just feel that it would be worth knowing for sure.
Made an account to say thank you Will, I enjoyed your excellent analysis which was proven nearly exactly correct. I wish Sneakers would shut up about downloading data
Thanks! Yes, it is very straight-forward to say what the influencers will do and run. My prediction for Goodge's Cali 100 was to dnf at 60 and he dnf'd at 60, and I actually predicted PJ to give up at 9 days, not 3.7. But that was outrageously early and so cynical.
Brockmann is by far the easiest of all the Balenger, Goodge and Johnsons to call, as the claim is so absurd and outlandish. If he's still in contention after 2.5/3 days I think we'll all be amazed.

Seeing as it took him nineteen hours to do a one off hundred, he'll be doing well to be in contention by the end of day 1.
