Great record from one of the all-time great distance runners - but far from "perfect".
Absolutely comparable to Ingebrigtsen, who so far was a 1500m/5000m runner who also has had great results (but also far from "perfect").
Ingebrigtsen is four years younger than Cheptegei, and we have to wait what he can do in the years to come.
For sure the 5000m WR is a REALISTIC possibility. The 10000m and longer is pure speculation (also he has shown some signs of very good endurance - but will it be enough to be competitive with "the Africans"?
It's certainly possible to believe that having the world record and being an Olympic champion makes you the best in the event, it's just not believable when it's coming from Army because he applies a different set of criteria to every single runner because the only thing he's concerned with is downplaying Jakob.
He himself doesn't believe all the nonsense he is writing. He is contradicting himself on a regular basis (Ingebrigtsen not a 3:26 athlete when he never gives times to the hundreds (which I always would do, but thats something different)...).

Yup, he does the same thing every time. He lies about things that are easy to verify, like Cheptegei having one more than one global title, gets called out for it and starts searching for a different argument that fits the conclusion he's already made, like how being the fastest matters when he neither thinks that applies to Farah or to Jakob in the 1500.

Not to top in pure stupidity was Armstrongs attempt to downplay Kipchoge Keino's achievements some years ago:
Armstrong: others were faster than Keino (no specification, what "faster" exactly should mean)
comment: no
Armstrong: Ryun, Clarke, Vasala were faster (Ryun for having better 1500m/Mile PBs, Clarke for having a better 5000m PB, Vasala for beating him at the 72 Olympics)
comment: Keino has much better PBs on many other events than them (for example his 3000m WR), Keino has beaten Clarke in four (!) OG/CG finals in a row (!) at 5000m/3 Miles
Armstrong: 13:16 > 13:24
And so on, over weeks.
It's not possible to have a serious discussion with him.

My favorite discussion with him was when he said Farah "never lost when it matters", when he of course has lost many times in both the Olympics and world championships. It took a lot of back and forth with him until he finally admitted that the only races that matters were the ones that Farah won.

The Ingebrigtsen apologists here cannot get around the facts that he is firstly nowhere near the world record for the 5k and has shown no improvement in time over the distance in years, has achieved NOTHING in the 10k, the HM was an embarrassment, and has NO wr over a championship distance, while finishing a dismal 4th in his best distance at the last Olympics and also failing to win a global championship gold in the event in 3 years. He now struggles to win in the md and shows no indication that he will excel as a distance runner. The field is catching up with him. That's the runner who says he wants every world record from the 1500 to the marathon. Lastly, he will NEVER match Farah's global championship golds in distance events.

Farah holds zero world records on the track, ingebrigtsen holds 3.

None of them in championship distances. Farah has 10 Olympic and world Championship golds to Ingebrigtsen's 4. It includes Farah's consecutive Olympic victories in the "Viren double" - an unbelievable feat in this era. It is a competitive record of attainment that Ingebrigtsen will never match. He also has golds over a distance that Ingebrigtsen will never have, which is the 10k, as Ingebrigtsen is not a distance runner as Farah was - and this thread among others suggests Ingebrigtsen will become a top 5k/10k runner. He won't.

Cheptegei at 5000m global champs: 8th (age 19), 1st (24), 9th (25) (didn't compete at age 18, 20, 22, 26, 27).
Ingebrigtsen at 5000m global champs: 4th (age 18), 1st (21), 1st (22), 1st (23) (didn't compete at age 20).
Obvious advantage for Ingebrigtsen (even when he will not medal anymore in the next four years - he is four years younger).
We have to wait what Ingebrigtsen can achieve in a arace for time - so far he hasn't had any during his prime.

So how does Ingebrigtsen get from 12:48 to 12:35, and 27:27 to 26:11? Do a Katir? Perhaps he already has.

Why would it matter to you when you're saying that the World championships and Olympics don't matter, since you said Farah "never lost when it matters"?
He's already destroyed Farah on time at everything he's competed on the track. He can only make the margin grow. He's already destroyed Farah on world records. He's never run a time trial 5000m. When he ran a quick one against Hagos, the kind of the fast 5000s, he destroyed him in the kick years ago for that 12:48. His 3k time is worth 12:30. He's destroyed all of those 12:30s and 12:40s guys on the circuit now three times at World and Olympic championships at 5000m. By the time he's Farah's age when the latter won his first world medals, he'll have had three more chances (2025/2027/2028) to earn more medals. In fact, he has a chance to equal Farah's career total by age 28 (12: 10 gold, 2 silver). At 29, he has a shot at passing Farah in medal count (2029 World's). He already has more world records than Cheptegei on the track and one more medal. That ship has sailed. He's already ahead of Cheptegei for his career, and years younger.

Darling, I was shocked honestly with Jakob's 63 in Danish land but I believe he has a small chance at 12:30 although every delay reduces his chances by an exponential turn!!!!!!!
He only has up to next year to get it and up to 2026 to get the 10k. The chances are not too good but it still exists!!!!!!!!
Armstronglivs, why do you have a personal vendetta against Jakob? Whenever I see or hear about Jakob, I'm inspired about running. I have this urge to glaze him to kingdom high. He is good for the sport. Why do you hate that

Nobody who comments on LRC has assumed any personal vendetta against nobody.
for instance myself I like to accuse Fishery and Hockery of pharmekia aka chemical witchcraft but it isn’t because I hate them nor have a personal vendetta against them.
another instance rekrunner likes to minimise and even extinguish the beneficial effects of EPO and all other PEDs but he claims it’s not necessarily because he is pro-doping.
Doping conversations are natural conversations of the sport just as profiling athletes like what Armstrongliv is doing.
jakob’s profile fits with a 1500m/3000m type. He’s white, tall, bulky and can’t tolerate HM very well. I’m sure Google will say the same!

How is that an instance of a "personal vendetta"?
In any case, you've got everything backwards, to the extent any sense can be extracted out of that mish-mash. I would like to strengthen and make public all of the claimed beneficial effects of EPO and all other PEDs by backing it up with all of the known data, understood in context, because I am pro-knowledge.
As it stands today, I could not in good conscious recommend any doping for any distance runners with alleged benefits based solely on faith and fallacies lacking sufficient data. I would highly recommend (no pun intended) lengthy training at higher altitude, based on a long history of trial and error.

Ingebrigtsen has a gold in an event Farah doesn’t have any in, the 1500m. Farah will never achieve that. Ingebrigtsen holds the 2000m, 3000m, 2 mile, world records. He also holds the 1500 and mile european records, as well as the world record indoors over 1500m. Ingebrigtsen is also a 6x European Champion and 5x European Indoor Champion. Farah will never surpass that as well. Farah also only has 1 European Cross Country Championship title, Ingebrigtsen has 8. Farah will mever surpass that as well. Jakob has 4 Diamond League Trophies, Farah only 1. Jakob has one medal for the Indoor World Championships, Farah none.

Well said, surpassing Farah isn't even in Jakob's sights because it's pretty much already been done. He's said he wants to surpass the achievements (collectively) of Bekele, Geb and Kipchoge in order to become the best runner of all time "across all the disciplines". That's what lies ahead of him.
