So happy to have been able to watch right in time during my lunch break. Sha'Carri has a sweet face and demeanor when surprised by her own success. The whole podium is good vibes.
She looked very wholesome with her family... she's a good kid who has grown up a lot under tremendous expectations and stress.
I don't care for US fans.. the sport doesn't need the US to stay alive. These European meets have been amazing. US cities have no business hosting the WC. Eugene was total cr@p compared to this.
Can somebody explain why SCR was in lane 9? She was the fastest who qualified on time, which makes her 7th seed. So lane 2 or 8 would've made sense.
Normally they would have filled lanes 2-9, with lane 2 being the slowest qualifier. They added the 9th qualifier due to the tie into lane 1.
Thanks. Isn't lane 2 more desirable tho than 9? Looking at the replay, SCR run across the finish line at an angle I'm guessing because the lane was turning and you don't want to risk stepping on something at the edge of the track if you keep going straight.
Warholm's lead leg went around the hurdle while trail- knee smashes the plastic hurdle in half. Shown clearly on the NBC broadcast. If he is DQ'd then who would be next time qualifier? As much as I want Rai to beat Warholm in the finals I am a believer in staying in lanes and no shortcuts in races..
I couldn't really get a good view on this, but I thought his lead leg might have gone around the hurdle, too. Would be nice to see a replay with a good angle.
Her semi was fast but she didn't get out well. I was very happy to see her adjust and win that final. She has the potential to go even faster as she is only 23. That was great.
Would it be weird if runners could choose the lane they run in the finals based on seed times?
Like if top seed from semis wants to run in lane 2 or 9, you let them and then work your way down the list asking who wants which remaining lanes
I’ve always wondered this myself. Seems to make too much sense.
Draw for Lanes 20.4 For events 100m to 800m inclusive, and relays up to and including 4 × 400m, where there are several successive rounds of a race, lanes will be drawn as follows:
20.4.1 For the first round and any additional preliminary qualification round as per Rule 20.1 of the Technical Rules, the lane order shall be drawn by lot.
20.4.2 After the first round, athletes shall be ranked after each round in accordance with the procedure shown in Rule 20.3.2(a) or, in the case of 800m, 20.3.2(b) of the Technical Rules.
Three draws for lanes will then be made: a. one for the four highest ranked athletes or teams to determine placings in lanes 3, 4, 5 and 6; b. another for the fifth and sixth ranked athletes or teams to determine placings in lanes 7 and 8, and c. another for the two lowest ranked athletes or teams to determine placings in lanes 1 and 2. Note: When there are fewer or more than 8 lanes, the above system with the necessary modifications should be followed.
Note (i): In competitions under paragraphs 1.4 to 1.10 of the International Competition definition, the 800m event may be run with one or two athletes in each lane, or with group start behind an arced line. In competitions under paragraphs 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 and 1.6 of the International Competition definition, this should normally be applied only in the first round, unless because of ties or advancement by the Referee

Line 9 is more desirable in the 200 and 400. I have no idea about the 100, but it might depend on the stadium.
