McCabe is being dissed by a lot of people. I would say that she is angry and licking her chops but she doesn't seem like that type of person and probably can't care less. She'll just show up.

Yes. She is the #2 returner from last year, less than a second off Chelangat. McCabe doesn't blast fast times during the regular season, so her Lacctic rankings are lower too and she flies under the radar.

Totally agree with you both. I think if Tuohy or Valby falters, McCabe is right there.

It sort of reminds me of the 2009 championship with all of the hype around Jenny Barringer & Susan Kuijken. I clearly remember that race and how everyone was hyping the two of them and disregarding everyone else. Both faltered a bit and Angela Bizzarri of Illinois put the hammer down and looked comfortable winning. It was talked about on the LRC podcast and also in the article on the front page of the website.
Also, laurie Henes gave an answer about the hamstring. It sounds minor and Tuohy sounds good to go. Here is what Henes said:
“It was a very minor issue,” Henes said. “She was able to finish the race well, cool down, and she’s been practicing.”
Below are videos of the 2009 race. Bizzarri blew everyone away. I don't expect a repeat this year but that is why they race.

I fixed my post. Kuijken faltered a bit and Barringer faltered a lot. She actually collapsed during the race.

I guess I remembered the race not as clearly as I thought. I just checked and Barringer did finish but was way back after collapsing. She may have had to go to a hospital afterwards for lyte replacments/IV, etc
Yeah that is a crazy story. Just goes to show anything can happen.
Admittedly, that was difficult to watch happen. Showing true grit and determination she somehow gets up and finishes. WOW… Scary.
This race was AFTER all of this:
Barringer qualified for the first women's steeplechase final in Olympic history by finishing third in her heat. She set a new American record of 9:22.26 in the final and placed ninth.
In 2009, she set NCAA records in the mile, 3000 m, and 5000 m indoors, 1500 m, 3000 m steeplechase and 5000 m outdoors. She also topped her own American record in the steeplechase at the 2009 World Championships with a time of 9:12:50, finishing 5th overall.
She’s like the most accomplished NCAA female distance athlete EVER and she postponed a PRO contract, JUST to compete in this race with the plan to win.
