Wow. Lets run is really into Seth Demoor! I would have never guessed that he was so popular here to generate so many posts. And many posters are saying that they not only watch the videos and share all the details about them but they also read through all the comments and get on live chat too. I guess he has a cult following of sorts here as well.
From Seth's Instagram: "Two years removed from my first road marathon in Amsterdam. After 2+ years of testing and pacing practice, it all comes down to executing even splits on Sunday at the @marathonrotterdam, emphasis on even, unlike two years ago."
How does 2+ years of testing and pacing practice yield only 1 minute 20 seconds improvement over Amsterdam? His pace was all over the place too. This is why he is so frustrating. He could have done so much better if he had spent all that time actually focussed on this.
Probably no more than 200/300 miles. A YouTuber did a comparison between Matt Fox Nick Bester and SJD training for this race and Seth only run 72 Miles above MP during the whole block.
whilst the others run 300 or something like that.
Tim Grose I think is the name. He analysed it quite good.
Pretty sure neither of them would particularly like the idea, but if Sage and Seth did some sort of collaboration, e.g. a training series where Sage agrees to help coach Seth for an OTQ for a block, or if they agreed to help sharpen each other up for trail races, the youtube numbers would be insane. I would 100% watch each episode, especially if there was the odd competitive session, like a 5k race or a race to get an ascent record on Strava. Any tension between the pair would likely just boost viewership.

He's starting the gaslight phase. First was that he was celebrating and ringing the bell, despite missing his goal. Now, he's covering up that he didn't run even splits, his pace dropped significantly over the last 10k. Next he'll latch onto being the #1 American finisher (despite no significant Americans taking part in the race). He's already used the excuse that he needs to go overseas because he has no competition in the states. He will use this result to further that narrative and reinforce his elite status with his fanbase. He'll overplay the significance of that result, over the OTQ. This is basically an Olympic medal vs International competition. /s

Well, DeMoor nailed it because I thought I saw Fox throw in the towel at like 20km with "cramps".

Seth videos are cult at this point. We see his mess in the kitchen on a daily basis in a close up fashion.
My take away: If I knew Waffles would make me run 2:22, I would eat them too.

You know what to do, LRC! Hit the YouTube comments everyday to call out his BS and gaslighting. It’s hard to sell coaching services when dozens of knowledgeable people are contradicting your advice with evidence on a daily basis. Plus, watching his fans go crazy with rage and confusion would be a treat to behold!
I agree, Seth is actually the better ‘runner’, not by sheer greater talent, but how he has worked hard with the talent given him. The arc of their respective careers since that ‘stunt’ of a race speedgoat is very telling.
SJD is highly talented and extremely dedicated to run the volume he does, but his races are all over the place and poorly executed and planned. Sage's "bad races" on the road are still comparable or better than Seth's best, and he is way more consistent. That's the difference between a hobbyist and a pro. Like, I can cook some pretty great meals fairly often but not as consistent as a pro chef.
Plus his videos are way better too. Typical Sage workout video:
* Dope homemade musical intro
* quick shot of coffee - "coffee is the lifeblood"
* 5min talking about planned workout during warmup jog - what it is, what it does for your fitness, how it fits into training for upcoming goal races
* 5-10min of actual workout with commentary
* a few mins of post workout reflections and how goals/training might be adjusted based on how it went
Typical Seth workout video:
* dumb clip montage of hobbyjoggers set to generic free youtube EDM
* yawny coffee shot that's the same in every video, no cool catchphrase
* 14 mins of toddler footage and seth mowing the lawn
* "today is a threshold day, 16mi threshold run (no pace/effort specified but it's slower than his MP), this is really gunna increase that vo2max and, uhhh... capillary density, I think that's right, I'm no expert but this will really get the midichlorians going"
* shot of him running away, fade, then him running back. he runs right up to the camera and puts it 2 inches from his sweaty face, lips pursed, dramatic breathing and snot smeared all over his face. "Come on now, dgr strong, butter that bread"
His strava shows that he did a half (1:09) a week out from the marathon. And 2xk the day before. Ha?
I am laughing at the fact that he still ran faster than Seth despite only putting in half of the training volume - 62 miles/wk. Quality is greater than quantity, it would seem.
