There's no Record for fastest cross-country 5K because all the courses are different, you really can not understand that? It's just something that's hyped up on milesplit because that's the business they're in!

Me and a couple of other sane people are just responding to the idea that it's obvious that people are overhyping this and trying to make something epic when it is clearly not

It's just annoying because there's no Nuance or depth in your analysis. You just want to yell out fastest time best ever! But that's not reality. It's dumb. It's sloppy. It's pointless and so on

And more than that who wants to live in a world where people have no critical thinking skills and just chant out whatever propaganda they're fed like Mindless automatem

Luckily I realize you're engaged in a very harmless outlet for your blindly passionate celebration. But it's your kind of thinking that led to Nazism and all frenzied uncritical ideologies that end in horror....

You might think that's a crazy comparison, but it's the truth. It's a blind passion with no ability to reflect and put things in perspective.

I hope she isn't visiting this site. She is the record holder. There is no analysis required. Several of you are doing everything you can to rationalize why it shouldn't be or why it is not legitimate.

That’s a great accomplishment. I do remember Erin Keogh of Langley High School (who won 3 in a row National HS cross-country championships) winning the Northern Virginia HS championship in 15:55 back in the fall of 1986 at the official 5K course in Burke Lake Park.

So Jenna Hutchins is not running?

Does anyone know when she is racing again?

I think quite a few people have been correct to question the course at Huntsville, but some of the responses seem to think this is jealousy or because she is a female.

Would these same people say that Craig Virgin was jealous of Nico Young and the 13:39 at Woodbridge Classic?

I don't see the difference between Craig Virgin's questioning that course and those here who want to understand how fast the course is, as well as its length.

She won the 3mile race in 16:13 in 1986. She ran 16:09 in 1987 which is still the record for the 3 mile course. Her 5k XC PR is 16:43.

Are cranks here still yelling about how this run was no big deal? What is wrong in your life people? Move on. The kid deserves credit and praise and ALL the accolades of being the fastest ever which is what she is. Technically and literally. You cant spin or wrestle that away from her. Time for a few grumpy old men to stop chasing after her with an asterix. And for you over the edge jokers who are comparing praising her record with promoting nazism, you may want to reassess your life. Clearly something has gone wrong for you personally that you feel the need to say ridiculous things like that in the context of a kid being recognized for her accomplishments. Its not too late to get help and get better.

She was going to go to the meet but we were told this morning that they determined she can't run it. The meet was sold to the local authorities as a pro meet so they were afraid it might result in the meet getting shut down so she now will go for it next weekend in Nashville I believe.

The Nashville meet where she originally planned to run was scheduled for today. Someone else commented that it had been canceled due to COVID restrictions.

Apparently it has been rescheduled for next weekend in Columbia SC.

Bummer for Jenna Hutchins!!! That would have been the meet of a LIFETIME to have been at and competing in!

Some people just believe that it's important to be accurate and meaningful and not to just haphazardly overhyped things

Jenna is running great, she had one of the best seasons ever. With some really strong performances

But this wasn't even her best run of the year, so keep it in perspective.

Atleast smart that she is not overtraining, and it was smart not to run any more races because after being overhyped there was nowhere to go

She should regroup for track season and focus on being a well-rounded Runner and continuing her Improvement

Millions of performances have been recorded across the years. This is the fastest of all time. It is impossible to make more out of it than what it is. It will be the record for at least 5 years unless she beats her own record next year.

And the course was built in 2019. :))))

Seems like you are the “Krank” man. The second place girl ran 10:20 for 3200 at the beginning of her xc season before she was racing fit. That 10:20 is a 16:33 equivalent. Yes, track and xc are very different, but, it is not unrealistic to think this girl, at peak fitness, wasn’t capable of 10:00ish.

Then this Jenna girl goes and bears her by almost a minute. That’s crazy. Speed ratings, fast courses, blah blah blah. It was a phenomenal performance on what sounds like an almost track fast but accurate xc course. Let’s celebrate this.

I agree with you on not over racing and leaving more to strive for. But, c’mon, this is legit fast. Parker Wolfe barely PRd from an altitude time.

It’s technically a xc course, two-thirds dirt canal, one third road. Flat. So, yes, very fast. But, also at 5,400’ above sea level. I would liken it to an almost sea level course, but my point still stands. Jenna’s run was crazy good.
