Fair play to Bester. Obviously not the time he wanted (set off far too quick) but he didn’t throw in the towel and gritted out a reasonable time still. Didn’t completely blow up.
It’s a bad time for him but 99.9% of club runners can only dream of it.
Fair play to both him and Felton for getting the race finished and not pulling out with some tame excuse when the wheels came off.
As for Cole - what a performance. Not a million miles off Run to Japans PB
Looks like the 3 guys who went to Kenya including Ben Is Running all blew up big time or dropped out. Really interesting, although the elites do it so it must work I’m not convinced being unable to run at goal pace in the 6 weeks leading up to the marathon is entirely beneficial. Maybe it works for elites because they are actually racing and not time trialling.
Outstanding negative split on a hot day where almost everyone else blew up. Wonder what he could do on a cooler, overcast day
So 11 degrees C to 18 with no wind and low humidity and dew point is a hot race? Seems like pretty damn good conditions, not perfect but nice race weather.

Deffo shows respect to course and other runners to finish - I do love that. Only slight issue, is Bester makes bank from coaching and then goes out at 2.17 pace and blows up. Seems very hypocritical.
