Just over 5 weeks to go. One down, two to go! Can he do it?
Obv he won't do those 3 records. (How far off was that 62 half?) Does this mean that he could not have done the 5000 and half? Intersting that full mary was not part of the predict.

I'll start with a couple of questions:
1. What is Sully up to so far in 2010? No indoor races? Training going well? Still gonna kick ass at 36yrs young?! :)
2. What about Nate Brannen? Is he on track for a stellar 2010?
And now a prediction:
Simon Bairu will set National Records for 5000m, 10000m and Half Marathon in 2010. You heard it here first. He turned a corner with his 13th place run at WXC.
1.) retired coaching at FSU I believe...
2.) A non-existent 2010 for Brannen, injuries I believe. However, I heard he has switched training groups, hopfully bigger 2011 in store.
.....2 weeks to go, how's the last prediction coming?
Sully and Brannen are co-running a running store in Florida (Tallahassee I think?). Sully is finished, officially retired. Indications are Brannen is still aiming for 2012.
When did sully officially retire?
And wtf is this thread about, ie the last few posts? Actually nvm.
Well -- you got one right. What will happen in 2011?

1 out of 3? Not too bad. Not too good.
Not too good.

ie New carding standards and an actual admission that they are focussing on "key" events, which exclude long distance running.
Why shouldn't they? Other than Speed River, no one else in the country runs distance worth a crap. When Canadians (not based in the US) can actually break now-old records [Marathons - W2h28 (1985-so 25 years) and M2h10 (1975-so 35 years)] then "focusing" can return. Chicken and egg - run fast and the money will follow, why invest in a poor bet. Heck as good as SR is, not even a single National record has fallen to anyone in the club yet, and the CR's aren't that tough anymore, relative to what others are doing in the world. Heck the 5000 and 10000m records are downright pedestrian, even the US records are way better - and that's not saying much given what the Africans are running.
Why SR isn't a NTC is a conundrum, but perhaps it was used too much as a recruiting tool for Guelph, which AC objected to in the spirit (just conjecture on my part, but I would tend to agree, unfortunately) of fair competition for athletes in the CIS.
Since then, SR has done an incredible job by taking down the Canadian 2,000m Mens record, while continuing to use the group as a collegiate recruiting tool so they don't have to develop their own juniors. It makes sense, of course; why develop athletes when you can simply be a great recruiter and focusing on the continuing development of already great athletes (or allow them to stagnate, w/e). It's been amazing to see what they've done despite not having state-of-the-art facilities for the jumps and more technical events. It's so ridiculous that AC doesn't support speed river more; freaking ridiculous if you ask me.
