PS. We didn't put this in the article, but for the record, when Kyle called Jonathan back, he started the interview by squashing the doping rumors.
"That could not be further from the truth relative to doping. That’s not true at all, so not quite sure where that came from."
Then he said this later:
"You have my word, nothing even remotely close [to doping]."
Nobody else ran with this rumor, other than maybe a few irrelevants on Twitter. There were no threads on running forums. There were no threads on Reddit. There weren't even any comments referencing the LetsRun rumor.
What's your point?
What other elite running forums of note are there? WHo the hell posts on reddit for elite running?
But for the record, I was called about this before I ever saw it on the LRC forum. The college and pro coaches are all very well connected and were clearly talking about. Some guy who writes for dyestat said he was told the same thing - as well as I believe David Monti. In the era of cell phones, once one person spread it, it was out there.
Prior to that, some were asking if it might be a doping issue but there wasn't rampant doping speculation. After I got the phone call, I saw 4-5 threads regarding her and doping. It wasn't a "letsrun rumor". It was a rumor that was out there that quickly got repeated on here.

As a test case, why not reach out to Monti and ask him what he heard when and from whom? Yesterday an anonymous poster said something like “Monti confirms he heard the same thing.” A little later you posted, “what did Monti say?”
So did he actually hear something and confirm it to some rando? Or are you now perpetuating the rumour than Monti also heard something *outside* of Letsrun?

With the poster astro online accusing Valby and others of doping on a daily basis how can you state with a straight face that you haven't seen anything on this site.

Theres a track and field subreddit where they discuss current events. Mostly sprints/field but sometimes distance stuff as well.
Sorry but doping is part of this sport inextricably. If you think there is a single top pro distance runner competing clean, you are deluding yourself. Every other endurance sport where the lid has been blown off shows that it occurs universally. What distiguishes distance running is that the doping techniques are virtually impossible to catch unless you are an East African marathoner going for prize money damn the torpedoes or Shelby Houlihan. (lol). That is why it is much easier to catch sprinters. So we are suposed to just accept that in a sport where success can be ordered COD and the doping will almost never be caught, that these athletes are so righteous that they just won't do it no matter the ease and the temptation? Sure. We have had 70 year seniors caught doping. Valby shows every red flag imaginable and has ready access to everything. She rubbed it in everyone's face. Forget her uncanny ability to recover from repeated injuries with zero lag time to recover fitness and form a la Ben Johnson. When you can effortlessly break records while blowing kisses to the crowd and hamming it up, it is very hard to miss. The dolts on here may play the tired denial game, but the athletes sure noticed, and the firewall against doping in college and even high school has crashed and burned. Quite a legacy. So spare me the lecture and the idiocy of me being unfair. Chances are she will never get caught, but it only fools those who make a practice of fooling themselves.
After reading Rojo's article, my main thought was "this is why athletes have experienced agents and PR reps."
I'm sure Parker Valby's Dad is a smart guy who wants the best for his daughter, but it feels like an experienced agent could've avoided all this. Valby's a big name in track and going dark like this was bound to invite speculation.
This wasn't a story anywhere else. As a test I called up a golfing buddy of mine. He's a huge track and field fan. We talked extensively about Grand Slam Track during a round a couple of weeks ago.
Last night I called him under guise of confirming our tee time in a few days. But I really wanted to ask this question, "Have you heard anything about Parker Valby?"
His response was immediate: "No, what's up with her?"
I didn't bother to mention this thread. No need to give this rumor more weight than it had, which was near zero. It only mattered if you think the track world revolves around this site. People who fixated on this site contact those involved with this site. Hence it becomes a revolving door of inflated reach and worth.
Based on the way Valby's father reacted it was apparently the first he'd heard of it. That's an indication in itself.

Are you saying Tuohy is not a top pro distance runner? Or that she is doping? Not that I think she is doping but please answer.

Welp, that settles it! Awsi Booger's golf friend didn't know about it, case closed!
When she starts running times consistent with the top US runners, then I would say yes. At this point she has not done that consistently, but that does not mean that she cannot, just that it requires training in the "pro manner". I think she has tried to compete clean, but that is not possible. She is definitely not doping, but pro running is the dirtiest sport going and unfortunately it is not a viable approach, especially when it seems to be widespread. A pro runner using EPO and the rest is going to beat a clean runner no matter how hard they work, no matter how much altitude training they get and no matter their natural talent. That is just reality. Chemistry trumps talent, and the effect of drugs like EPO is massive no matter what the denialists claim on here. We see it all the time. Tuohy comes off as well adjusted and not glory obsessed, but this is a sport for sociopaths and personality disorders. Maybe she thinks she has too much to lose after almost a decade in the spotlight and is fine with it.

If its easier to catch sprinters, theyre not doing a good job.Herculean muscle bound, sometimes acne covered cyborg sprinters and shorter distance athletes are still getting away with it,and rarely testing positive.Same with field athletes. Its a pharmaceuticul freak show these days.
I’m sorry but I have a bad feeling Valby is done.. won’t be the first.. definitely won’t be the last that doesn’t transition to pro well. She’s not just deleting insta on a whim.. she’s got 180k followers.. that’s important to New Balance. Dad has probably told her to get it back up immediately- because dad’s trying to hold her together.
She had a great final season at college preceded by injury after injury after injury.. couldn’t even do the big miles and cross trained it was such an issue. I’d imagine going pro and running in the cold in Boston has maybe caused a relapse of her mystery shin issues?
Hope I’m wrong.. I’m a big fan.. but deactivating her insta is wild and very concerning - I’d say she’s had bad news. Of course Dad who is her agent is going to say she’s fine!!
