Um yeah but the hush money payment to Stormy was before the election. So yeah there was a crime. Just because Donald paid Cohen back later (and thus fraudulently reported that later) does not change the fact that Donald Jessica Trump fraudulently reported documents to cover up his election interference.
Not a crime
Correct. Not a crime. 34 crimes. Hahahahahahahahahaha.....
2024: “How DARE you prosecute the candidate of a major party running for President!”
Dumb
I heard a lot of "Lock her up!" back in 2016. Republicans really wanted her held accountable for not properly handling her emails and documents. Sounds familiar, right?
So why is Bob's post dumb? It seems like the "tough on crime" party of Republicans doesn't want people locked up for crimes if they are:
business people who screw investors out of money by intentionally lying
business cheats who file for bankruptcy (even though they still have money) just to get out of paying their debts
ranchers who take over Bureau of Land Management buildings because they disagree with the laws on public lands
cops who abuse suspects after they are in cuffs
white collar criminals who defraud people and trick them out of their money
people who cheat on their taxes (because if you aren't gaming the system, you're getting gamed)
people who drive over protesters with their trucks
men who deface our flag by flying it upside-down, or change the stripes to black and blue to make a political statement (please, stop messing with our flag. Thanks in advance)
people who dump or burn toxic waste to increase their profits even though it causes cancer
men who own guns even though they have lost their right to own guns due to criminal activity
people who abuse women if the women are untrustworthy, poor, or in subordinate positions in one's organization
Just "real criminals" like shoplifters, people who overstay their visas, or set up a tent under the freeway.
President Trump is a very innocent man. This verdict is a disgrace. America has gone to hell, and is in serious decline.
He also used the phrase "very innocent" today in his speech. That is interesting. You are either innocent or not. No need for "very" unless you think this is some kind of gray area where you can be more or less a criminal.
Do you think we are all on a "spectrum" of criminality? We aren't. Most of just are just "innocent" of fraud.
I am an innocent man. Listen to what people saying on the streets. They are saying I am very innocent. Nobody has ever been more innocent than I am. And bigly brave. Brave like those soldiers on the shores of Normandy. But they had each other. I am just one man fighting the Deep State and their fake law courts. I am the most bravest man to fight for our country. No one has ever been more brave.
The alleged falsification did not occur until 2017 - after the election that the allgedly falsification was supposedly unlawfully influenced occurred.
Cut nuts. I've seen the issue you've raised a few times (not much and never by any heavyweight pro-Trump commentators). But I've yet to see anyone spell out why the timeline you loosely describe matters. Can you elaborate a bit? Because I can't figure out why it would matter to guilt and liability when Trump had the (clearly) false documents created.
Just FYI, I don't recall Trump's lawyers really raising this issue either. I can't find any mention of it in Trump's opening or closing arguments. If they didn't mention it, I would tend to believe Trump's lawyers didn't think much of whatever you are trying to argue about the date of falsification. So either Trump's lawyers really suck and missed something you think is critical, or whatever you are arguing about false document timing probably doesn't matter much, if at all.
Read Section 17-152 - Conspiracy to promote or prevent election, N.Y. Elec. Law § 17-152, see flags on bad law, and search Casetext’s comprehensive legal database
The alleged falsification took place after the election, so it could not have prevented Hillary from being elected.
Another thing to look at is that is highly doubtful that knowledge of an affair between SD and DJT would have made a difference in the election outcome.
The outcome of the New York trial is that Trump is a loser. for someone who claims to always win, the verdict was a devastating dose of reality. Nevermind the corrupt payments scheme he was convicted over, somehow he claimed that the stormy affair never even happened and even Trump supporters know he lied in court.

So what? I'm not aware of anyone alleging that the false records "prevented Hillary from being elected." Where did you hear that was a charge? It doesn't seem to matter when Trump created the false records. Why do you think it's important to this case that the records were falsified after the election? Please spell out why that matters.
Has Trump or his lawyers raised this issue in the case to your knowledge? I haven't seen it. The place to raise it would have been in Trump's Omnibus Motions to Dismiss the Charges filed back in September 2023, and I don't see it mentioned in there anywhere. Here's that Trump Omnibus Motion:
I just can't see how what you are saying matters here. I think you're woofing up the wrong tree. You're all wrapped around the axle. Someone sent you on a fool's errand.
