The fact that you are mentioning Sean Brosnan in the same sentence as John Wooden(!) or even Chip Kelly means you don’t get it. Yes John Wooden, the coach of ten NCAA championship teams in a span of 12 years, John Wooden who many consider one of the top 10 coaches in the annals of American sports, any sport, John Wooden who did more to establish UCLA as an internationally renowned institution than anybody else, that John Wooden might have been able to keep his job even if he did tamper with Dalia Frias. Sean Brosnan, first year collegiate coach with no notable NCAA accomplishments in a minor sport, not so much.
Touche! Although if Wooden tampered with Dahlia Frias even he wouldn't have survived, at least in 2023.
My point a bit clearer is there really are no clean schools anymore. Northwestern and Fitzgerald done, Harbaugh and Michigan suspension coming. etc., so what does a school have left to protect?
UcLA transfers - Barnett as a soph was entitled to 1 immediate transfer, McDonnel's freshman transfer was slow thru the portal and completely legal. Frias they rushed for some stupid reason and she ended up sitting out the outdoor season. In the end 3 runners are at their #1 choice college. Other than technicalities, there's nothing that Duke, or UVA could have done to keep them. There was just now a roster spot, admittance and a scholarship at their preferred school, when a year prior there wasn't. It's not like Brosnan paid a bribe, or even gave them an NIL, what he's basically guilty of is bungling the admin on legal transfers.
