Well if you get enough pacers a flat track can start to seem that way.

I really thought that you were just being a troll but I am starting to think that you really don't understand. For a point to point to course, downhill is faster than flat and flat is faster than uphill. For a looped course, the flatter, the faster. This has been proven in many industries. It expends less energy and permits you to cover the distance in less time. The AL course starts and finishes at the same level. If it was completely flat, that would be the fastest layout. The next fastest layout is to have steeper uphills than downhills which is what the course was designed to do. So they made it as fast as they could with what they had to work with. Had they started with a flat tract of land, the course would be faster.
H'm. So now a flat course is faster than a downhill course. And how looped does it need to be for this to kick? Curious.
She could run 15:40 on a flat course. Fastest girl in history. Tuohy was very lucky that she graduated when she did. She would be battling for 4th or 5th this year.

I can't find any information about this race whatsoever that you mentioned: "There is a "ASICS Best of the East HS Girls' 5000" on 12/4". How did you find that information and will it be streamed, etc? Do we know if that's what she entered?
Thanks!
They had a lot of heats scheduled but entries were low so there will only be four heats. There is no entry list at this point that I can find.
December 4 3:00 PM EST - Women's 5000m
December 4 4:30 PM EST - Men's 5000m
December 5 4:30 AM EST - Men's 10,000m
December 5 3:30 PM EST - Women's 10,000m
This is the same group that holds the Music City meet. They streamed that one on youtube but I don't know if they will stream this one or not. I don't see it mentioned so it is not looking good.
http://nashvilletrackclub.org/FiveandDime2020/Here is the livestream of Music City. Maybe it will be on the same channel.

Thank you so much!
Have you seen confirmation that Hutchins will be there? Or will she be down south in the big Track Meet that Shelby Houlihan just now entered?
The RunnersWorld article said "she is scheduled to compete at an invitational 5K track race in Nashville." This appears to be it but it is not confirmed.

Understandable, thanks!
By the way, the link to the Music City YouTube didn't do anything...

Tuohy would have beaten Jenna by a minimum of 20 seconds. This course is faster than a track 5k.
Check out Ethan Peterson, 4:43 1600m in 2020 and ran 15:05.
Check out Avery Jaynes, 4:52/10:08 in 2020 and ran 15:07.
Check out Kevin Agnew 4:30/9:30, broke 15.
Check out Michael Toppi 9:42 3200m, ran 15:08.
I spot checked maybe 8 kids, and these 4 were super egregious. Imagine if I checked all.
Just imagine struggling to run sub 5s for 2 miles on the track 6 months ago and now running sub 5s on a cross county course 6 months later.
You can think what you want but Hutchins is the record holder and Tuohy is not. Tuohy would have run about 16:05. I was there and I competed in the open race running 20 seconds slower than my 5k TT on the track 2 weeks ago. Check out the 2 guys who ran 15:58.

I wish I could predict unknown events as well as you!
Or invent them outright.
That is a great point. Let's stick to facts. Tuohy is in college and she had 4 good years of running. Hutchins is only a junior but she has already set the record. She is the fastest of all time. Tuohy is only as good as her best time. We should not make any assumptions of what she could have run. Hutchins is the best and Tuohy is not. Thank you for bringing us back to reality.
Doesn't look like she'll be racing there...
BUT, it looks like she'll be racing FRIDAY night at the "Track Meet" in Orange County California. (The same meet that Nico Young, Shelby Houlihan, etc., are scheduled in).

Oh man. Sub 15:30 for Hutchins. Fast Tuohy will never come back to this site.
Set a record without a platoon of pacers and I say well done. Sounds like they are going to have pacers for every kilometer, which is certainly different. :)
If most of these girls try to run 15:30 (ie 4:57 or so per mile if evenly paced) they will blow up. If Hutchins can really run that fast she belongs in a faster heat.
SPEED RATINGS! A FAIR SYSTEM TO COMPARE PERFORMANCES RUN UNDER VERY DIFFERENT DEGREES OF DIFFICULTY! Why if only we had a system , so we could stop all the endless arguing and have a fair way of comparing cross-country performances SPEED RATINGS! A FAIR SYSTEM TO COMPARE PERFORMANCES RUN UNDER VERY DIFFERENT DEGREES OF DIFFICULTY! Katelyn Tuohy is best 177 Jenna Hutchins best 171 Depending on the conditions Hutchins could get six or seven seconds boost running in a paced race I predict she runs about a1550, which will show that this course is very similar the track 5K times and will also show that bill knows what he's doing
