Cohen says he was directed to payoff some hush money to a couple sluts. As Dershowitz explained last night on both Fox and CNN, this is likely to not even make it to Trump. Campaign finance violations of more than this magnitude happen all the time.

And of course, none of this is Russian collusion-related, or obstruction of justice-related, and you know it.

Let me remind you that a month prior to the election, the DNC/HRC campaign colluded with NBC to roll out an audio of a private conversation between two guys talking about poon from 11 years earlier..... and then rolled out a woman every few days who claimed to have been harassed/assaulted by Trump... so they could paint a woman-hating narrative.

There is no evidence that anyone colluded with NBC. There is no evidence of any crime. Nobody has been indicted or convicted for anything your whataboutism describes.

But what Trump did with Cohen is a felony. Cohen now stands convicted of that felony and Trump is an unnamed co-conspirator. Child, there is no comparison.

I think the problem is that none of this is really news. Sure, it's confirmed Manafort is crook and Trump paid for silence right before the election, but that's all been pretty much known since at least February or March.

It's hard official legal evidence that could for sure lead to a conviction, but I don't see how it really sways any Trump supporters away from him. They denied it was true when it was 99% obvious months ago. I doubt the extra 1% bump to 100% really does much.

And now apparently Michael Cohen will not accept a pardon if he is offered one

That's just part of the puzzle we know about. What does Roger Stone have to do with this, and what is Trump's involvement/coordination with regard to Stone? Trump will also be found guilty of obstruction of justice and many other things. He will be found to be part of the conspiracy with Russia to help get him elected too.

Mueller has iron clad stuff on him for certain.

You simply are not correct. If a person accepts a pardon, it is an admission of guilt. Again, go read up on Burdick v. United States.

I looked at Burdick before I ever posted about this. I've read up on it already.

What you are talking about in your quote is merely dictum. It had no bearing on the Burdick case and is therefore far from being settled case law. Google it and you will see that legal scholars disagree on this point. Accepting a pardon doesn't mean you are guilty. And as this was not the central question in Burdick, it has never been tested.

From a practical and Constitutional standpoint, it makes no sense that accepting a pardon means you are guilty. Let's say an insane prosecutor way back when indicted Mother Teresa for spouse abuse under federal domestic violence laws. Since she was never married, the president concludes that she is innocent and grants her a pardon. Nobody in their right mind would think that accepting the pardon means she is guilty of the crime.

If the "guilt theory" of pardons was ever tested, I am confident it would be dismissed. Flagpole, I know that you want it to be true because you think it helps your case on this thread. My advice to you is to give it up. Michael Cohen just handed you plenty of redemption yesterday. The president cheated to win the election and Cohen just plead guilty to that fact.

I don't need redemption. I am just right about the fact that if you accept a pardon, it is an admission of guilt. Your logical assumptions don't play into this. In your Mother Teresa example, if she were to accept the pardon, she is admitting guilt. In cases where someone has been unjustly convicted, the court can overturn the conviction, but a pardon does not remove the guilt and, as I have stated and as is stated in Burdick v. United States, it carries the assumption of guilt. The reason for pardons (other than how Trump uses them which is to send messages and wield power) is to give prisoners or ex-prisoners their civil rights back (voting, gun ownership, etc.). If a President wants to end a prison sentence but not give civil rights back, they will Commute the sentence.

Always so strange when trumpers say, in effect, that the only crime that matters here is collusion. It's their last hope so I understand why they do it, but really. Really, idiot trumpers? Because if you focus your attention I'm sure you could come up with a few crimes not including collusion that would be pretty f'in meaningful.

1) Trump supporters don't care if Trump breaks the law. Not everyone who voted for him was a diehard Trump supporter though. This isn't just about paying a porn star. He committed a felony twice by paying Daniels and McDougal. Felonies are big deals.

2) There is a ton of evidence of Russian collusion including an admission by Trump that Don Jr. did it. We just don't have a charge yet. That's coming.

3) Trump has obstructed justice out in the open. He will definitely fall for this...tons of evidence for this that we already know about.

Mueller and the SDNY will have so much on Trump that he will have to resign or be impeached and removed. Also, just to be clear to everyone, Mueller referred the stuff to the SDNY, so even if it is the work of the SDNY that takes Trump down (I say multiple agencies will), that came out of Mueller's investigation.
