For whatever reason, Words and stuff is trying to rationalize or excuse away future lying by The Orange One. Either he is doing all he can to defend Trump, or he just likes to argue by being pedantic. He is not wrong about what he has said about lying, but his tactic will not fly when it comes down to putting the screws to Mr. Bone Spurs.
So, how do you verify if a person knows it to be the truth at the time or not? Well...you look at other actions that might tip you off. For example, Trump has said the Trump Tower meeting was something that is done all the time and that it was perfectly legal. Well, if he REALLY thought that, then why did he craft a misleading memo about what the purpose of the meeting was? You don't obstruct justice for something you believe to be both legal and common.
Trump can not be interviewed by Mueller and tell the truth without incriminating himself, so he would HAVE to lie in order to not. Mueller knows what the truth is already, and so when Trump lies (if he ever meets with Mueller), he will have perjured himself. Trumpers need to remember that perjury is just a charge. It could be disproved.
When it comes to credibility, Trump is far behind. This is what happens when you lie about all things big and small.
The circle is closing in on Trump as I have said for a long time now. I knew we would eventually be where we are. He's a criminal and he has surrounded himself with criminals and others people of poor character. This is going to end badly for Trump. Why?
Because...
Mueller is coming.
The clown is done.
Oh Flagpole, how VERY disappointing. And here I was thinking that you were a man of integrity!
Please show me where I "(was) trying to rationalize or excuse away future lying by The Orange One. " Here, let me make it easy for you - you will not find any evidence of this.
I will go a few steps further and give you even more help.
(1) I despise Trump more than any other living human being that I have sufficient grounds to form an opinion on.
(2) I stand for the truth. Always and without exception. It makes no difference to me whether the truth on a given matter supports conservatives or liberals, Trumpettes or anti-Trumpettes. All of these distinctions are trivial as compared to the one distinction that matters - truth vs anti-truth.
(3) When people say things that are untrue here I call them out on it. Consistently
(4) Someone, lacking in intelligence, understanding or integrity, posted that Trump thinks that his lies are the truth. This is obviously absurd and the poster was rightfully called out on it.
(5) All further discussion on this followed from (4). I stood by truth. And others stood by stupidity, ignorance and tribalism.
Now then, perhaps you can demonstrate some integrity by noting (correctly) that your statement, "Words and stuff is trying to rationalize or excuse away future lying by The Orange One." was INCORRECT! That is, if your own integrity outweighs your own tribalism.
Well I did ALSO say that your reason could be "he just likes to argue by being pedantic", so that is clearly the reason. I said it was one or the other. Apparently you are being pedantic.
Like I said, you were correct when defining lying. A person does need to know it is incorrect for it to be a lie. If a person says something they believe is true but later it turns out that it isn't true, then that is a "falsehood, so in L L's example, if someone on Monday mistakenly says it is Tuesday, that is not a lie, that is a falsehood.
So, I have no issue with you, brother. You were one of two things, and pedantic is it. I agree that you have integrity. Do know that you can be right AND be pedantic at the same time...in fact, those two things often go hand in hand.
