How does that put anything to rest? It's an article in which the journalist (and I use that term very loosely) basically just cut and pasted from an email in which PM described her race.

The fact that you posted the link shows how desperate you are to change the narrative.

Thomas saw PM get in a car and head into town at mile 102 or so. Never to return again. Yet she finished in front of him? Darren saw PM around mile 91 and never saw her again. Yet she finished ahead if him. Link the fits folks....

Does anyone else get the impression, if anyone else is reading this, the posts have degenerated into someone asking and answering their own questions? It reads like that crazy fat old woman (or man) is talking to herself.

You've obviously never run Badwater. In addition to the the checkpoints, race officials drive up and down the roads noting positions and checking on runners. They especially check on runners that are in danger of not hitting cutoffs. Since she was near the back of the pack, officials would have checked on her A LOT.Her not being DQed shows that she did not cheat.

According to "List" , a huge percentage of the posts on this thread come from SH. If that is true, he is obviously investing a great amount of time and energy to muddy the water, discredit opposite viewpoints, and generally create confusion for the narrative on Lets Run involving his wife. Why? Unless there was wrongdoing involved at Badwater, it does not make sense for him to do this.

PM seems to be all over the media with interviews and news reports portraying her as world record holder, inspirational athlete, tireless promoter for the sport of ultra running, and hero to many who see in her proof of the value of honesty, humility, and dedication in overcoming daunting obstacles in their own lives. She could be all of these. But this couple and some of their associates have successfully put themselves out there to fans and media outlets as role models in the running community and as such people to be admired...With that comes the responsibility to be honest with people who have legitimate questions and not to use personal attacks and smokescreens to confuse the issues. It just doesn't reflect well on them, their fans, or the sport.

No, it means that an official driving the course did not witness her cheating. It does not in any way imply that she did not cheat. There are now two independent reports of other participants in this particular run that have voiced their concerns regarding the fact that she was behind them at about the same general area on the course, and then somehow passed them and their crews unnoticed. Her extraordinary boost in speed, combined with the remarkable come from behind effort, resulted in at least two other participants questioning how she did this completely unseen by either runner or their crew. If I didn't know better, I'd say she was one heck of a magician! I then got curious. I asked someone who is one of her FB friends to go through her page to look for any race updates. They sent me a screen shot of a race report she posted that indicated that "Closer to Loan Pine I decided to send most of my crew back to rest and come back to help on the last 13 miles hill up to Mount Whitney portals". She went on to report that she "Passed a lot of runners that looked like zombies as the hills and desert had taken some soles! " (her spelling, not mine)

It would be interesting to see which member of her crew remained behind with her until the rest of the crew returned at some point in the future. If it was Steve, that could be the point at which the magic act took place!

And remember folks, this was Act Two. We already read about her earlier trick that enabled her to not only run a marathon event on a totally different day than all the other participants, but also capture and log another runners amazing ability to run two marathons in two different states at the same time! I think they have a shot for a headline Vegas magic act.

Too bad all we are getting is smoke and mirrors because I for one would love to see these two tricks exposed!

Also explain why driving PM into lone pine at mike 102 was not described in her race report? When did you come back after staking out and then make up hours and hours in the final 30 miles or so. I'm on that List a couple times under other names. Not only am I not Steve, I don't recall taking a position for or against PM. I'm just along for the ride, wherever it may lead. Maybe she cheated, maybe not. Entertaining thread either way.

No - boiled down - This is about someone who cheated at Badwater, more than likely at other races too, and is asking for money, based on past accomplishments, to help her subsidies her running.

Everything else is just smoke and mirrors to distract from the facts above.

Stevie. Please explain the trip into lone pine at mile 102 w PM. That's pretty damning information Thomas just shared. Funny how that is not mentioned in her race report. As you are flying by runners in your crew vehicle I can see why they may have appeared to be zombie-like. What were you up to in lone pine btw? Sleeping at the best western until you thought the split times were safe to resurface? When did you pass Thomas? How about Darren? Funny how nobody mentioned the van ride at mile 102. Thomas is awesome for busting your asses!! Your time has come. You two are over.

Yes, this thread started with accusations concerning a micro-marathon and whether pm did or did not run it. These letsrun marathon cheating threads are always interesting, starting with Martin Franklin (who I believe tried to cheat to get a OT qualifier?), going to the Kip Litton saga, James Kalani (who suddenly went from a 4 hr marathoner to a 2:30 marathoner), and many in between including one of my favorites, the Faux Farah.

This thread, although increasingly bizarre, is interesting in that the alleged cheating involves true back of the pack people who prior to this thread and the KL thread would have never been discussed on a letsrun message board. As per Badwater, it will basically boil down to whether or not the RD at badwater cares about or believes the claims of the two guys. Does any RD really care what goes on at the back of the pack?? They should.

If there is anything to look at more closely pertaining to the beginning of this thread, I think it would be interesting for someone to look at the race results of some of these iranmarathons and cross check the people's names with marathonguide.com finishing times (have they any other times ever recorded?).

Misdirect what? The thread is not about Badwater. It's about trying to find something, anything, that PM did wrong. We're currently talking about Badwater. If that fizzles, all these many accusers who are just concerned runners and certainly are not Jason R, will find another race to examine. That'll be fun. I love this stuff. I loved the Kip Litton stuff. I love the catty accusations here about who didn't see whom. It'd be wonderful if someone had a smoking gun and PM got DQ-ed. Why is it that unless someone says "PM is the worst person who has ever walked the planet", they are party to the dark evil that PM is perpetrating?

This thread is wonderfully bizarre. The Kip Litton saga started with guys losing out on age-group awards to a runner they never saw. This thread started with nothing. People who were at the back of the pack in a nothing race. Some guy who has never even claimed to be a runner says he saw PM not running. So passionate and personal about nothing.

I don't care about PM. I don't care about the integrity of the San Antonio Elks marathon for twelve people jogging in a park. All the many accusers, who again are totally not all Jason R under different names, may have stumbled into something with the Badwater thing. One could ask why he, I mean they, are not going after Dean K, who has a much higher profile than PM, but I guess PM is the real princess of darkness, so she must be taken down.

I think it is also important to not lose sight of the fact that as an endorsed athlete, that athlete has a responsibility to represent the companies who supply them with product or merchandise in the best light. Clearly, she is chasing 1000 marathons and I fear she has lost the true spirit of the marathon experience. While controversial athletes sometimes take on a whole different marketing philosophy, I'm guessing companies like Swiftwick, Core Power and others wouldn't be too keen on the negative publicity surrounding this particular ambassador.

With that said, I guess it's a brilliant approach to have your sponsor produce a "Chasing 1000 Marathon" poster and then sell that poster online for $10.00 each. I'm sure she's passing out bottles and packets of products to her race participants, so in reality, her sponsors are not only supporting her individually, they are support her paid registrants as well. So if she has 25 registrants per race, at 75.00 per participant, she's making $1,875.00 per day, minus minimally expenses (park permit, ice, fruit, etc). Not a bad idea if you think about it.
