I have a kid that was a bad JV runner for 2 years, consistently running 23-24 min 5ks. This year he's sub19, and gunning for sub1830 this week.
Ive never seen anyone improve their 5k by 5 mins. in one year.
Ethan Hogan from Illinois ran dang near 17min 5k at Foot Locker Midwest around Thanksgiving his Junior year. Weeks later he was sub 9 3200 and sub 4:10 mile.
Wasn’t even the top 50 in his state in XC that fall and then that Winter/ Early Spring dominated track.
