I’d like to see this season without the pointless GST — this was already going to be a hard year with the two late championships. Throwing in all those early races (instead of training through the spring and early summer ) screwed up Nuguse.
This 1500m US final is about as close to a world championship/Dl final level. There is just so much pressure to make this team. I would argue making the world championship final is easier than making the US team.
The Red Sea parted for Hocker in Paris allowing him to win. He runs now like it is going to happen every time for him. He needs to put himself in a better position going into the last lap, and especially entering the final turn, instead of waiting for everyone to move out of his way.
I dunno about that. It's not the only time he's been well served by being patient and waiting for the inside to open up.
He’s got the best kick. He doesn’t need to be patient.
Nothing surprises me in the 1500 anymore. Too many up and coming talents in the US and world, no one is ever safe. I do feel bad for Nuguse leading and getting outkicked, guess he needs a new tactic.
Lol US 1500 men’s career gotta be one of the most volatile careers in the nation right now.
Kudos to Nuguse for signing autographs with a smile after that huge disappointment. Sorry to break up the hate and pity party for most of you posters with something positive.

This US trials system causes people to need to peak twice in a.very short period. Not obvious or easy, so now for the 1500m they do not send their proven fastest runners.

Kessler needs to leave Very Nice Track Club and train with Smith full time. he's got no gears, just one speed. fast and then a slow deceleration. Smith has taught Nico, Luis, and Abdi gears - and look at Maggi Condons progression this year. same thing, she can shift to whatever pace a race calls for. if Kessler had gears he'd be much more dangerous. watching him finish like that is just ridiculous for a guy that talented.
Kessler has been training with Pat Henner and lives mostly in Flag, they do a lot of speed dev too
Unfortunate that Holt went from 332 in the first round to 340 in the final. He's had a tough time with multiple heats in the past but he seems to run decent mileage so I'm not sure it's more mental than physical?

strand and koech both basically matched his mid 12 kick today. And strand had much worse position and had to put in a lot of work on that backstretch leading up to it
I believe based off of that 1500 final, we’re gonna see a lot of jog fests in the next few years. The fast guys in America are no longer far and above everyone else, they can’t afford to gamble their spot by leading the whole way. Save those time trials for the diamond league and any race Jakob is in, rely on your tactics domestically.
I had this exact thought immediately as the race finished. It’s possible that final was extremely consequential for the way non rabbited races will be run for years. Yared is arguably the best front-runner in the world outside of Jakob and now we have evidence both of those men aren’t even good enough to do it all out from the start.
One irony is that Ritz made it a point to wejo before Paris that no matter what, Yared wouldn’t lead from the start, insinuating it is foolish to go too far out. Yared got to that lead pretty quickly today… could not have been more than 220 meters.
