Love seeing famed Tay Tay hater, Roy, featured in the middle of a pack of nameless Oles on their Instagram graphic with 22 (Taylor's Version) as the reel song.
This post does make me think the battle for top freshman between the Mac and Carleton frosh will be interesting. That is definitely exciting for the future of both programs.
Interesting to consider that Turlington was only the fourth freshman at his first MIAC championship and Jack Deaver wasn’t in the top ten freshmen. It’s interesting to watch development at different programs. Sometimes in spite of the coaching.

I'm sick of hearing about all these guys that were already studs and probably should have gone from the start - Roy, Gabe, Indy, Turkington. Even Wilkinson, the 26 year old Will Kelly and Logan Bocavich were some of the top runners in the state. Show me a top MIAC runner that was a solid D3 recruit and developed into national level and I'll be impressed.

Turlington ran 4:27 & 9:44. Those aren't exactly elite times. Deaver ran 9:26 for 3K. It has long be rumored Power got the 3K and 3200 confused and that is the only reason he recruited him. Gael ran 10:16 & 4:52. There are several other examples of this. I think most of us think that the MIAC coaches do a great job of developing non-elite talent. Most also think kids are getting faster and we should expect to see faster recruits at MIAC schools.

Chunko outdid himself here.
Why does Roy hate Taylor Swift? That seems rather unnecessary.
Brendo said Power asked if they could run it twice and they said no, so the Oles are staying home this weekend. Surprised the Carls aren’t going. A 4K seems perfect for their milers.
I bet we see a few school records this weekend. Also cheaper than taking JV kids to Auggie.
Mo is entered. If the top runner in the country is running, why shouldn't others do some speed work?
Looked like Mo got out hard and then just tempoed at 3:00 pace. Bruer got out fastish, and then settled into 25:20 race pace. Is he become a dark horse for the MIAC runner up battle? Not sure he can beat Stencil, but I’ll take him against anyone else.

Based on this performance and how impressive their Tuesday workout the Gusties are 100% a dark horse to beat the Oles. If Bruer can finish second, they should be able be to put their top four in front of the Oles top three. Not sure they have the 5th runner though.

An athlete that turned into National level talent despite humble beginnings? I can think of none other than Luke Popp who was a recent miac athlete of the week per the image above. He was seen going stride for stride with Mo during the bluegold invitational. They're calling him the "ghost of miac"
You must not have seen what Mac did this week! Tempo with K’s ending with multiple sub 3’s and then they crushed controlled 3 x 3200 yesterday. Followed by “easy” long runs of 15 miles today. They are dialing in.
Also an impressive workout from Indy and their new Gabe freshman yesterday. I’m beginning to think Indy is the actual dark horse runnerup competitor. He’s never had a full season of training but always manages to be All-MIAC. He’ll be hellfire to end the season.
What's the MIAC alumni marathon record? I know some Gusties and Oles are racing Chicago today. I know Devon has run 1:05 or so for the half. Not sure if he ran a full. Malcolm Richards made a few Olympic Trials. Has Munir run anything fast?

It’s Mo, right? The marathon he ran before going to Augsburg? If not, he’ll get it at Grandma’s this spring. Sub 2:12 is a legitimate goal for him. Not many other MIAC athlete can or have run sub 2:20. Probably a lot that have run under 2:25, which is still good just nothing to brag about.

It will probably eventually be Mo, but Richards has run faster. In fact, I think he ran 2:18 low to pipe Mo by a few seconds at age 42! According to google, his PR is 2:13 when he was 6th at the CIM race. According to the D3 marathons thread Carleton great didn't run marathons, but Mike Palmquist and Matt Hooley also ran 2:18. Interestingly, the previous record holder may have been Paul Mausling from Mac with a 2:15.37 in 1983!
Who has the D3 alumni record? Has anyone run faster than Noah Droddy yet - another Power-coached athlete that got much faster after leaving his program. I remember he tried to claim credit for his success when he recruited me. He even has a picture of him up in his office. He didn't have pictures of any Oles greats, which was weird.

What won't this guy take credit for?
And why would he need to dress like a pumpkin when he's already shaped like one. It's sad to see a leader in a sport that's all about fitness not take care of himself. If he lasts at St. Olaf, he has a legitimate chance of weighing over 300 pounds in the next five years.
