I would think it goes out in 50hi/51low with Arop and Moula up front suspect that 500-600 segment is gonna start a furious battle with those two and Wanyonyi attacking and Sedjati in tow. Should be a great last 200 and I agree probably 1:43low-mid with Ben/Hoppel maybe coming late.
Hard to look past the Algerians. Ben closes like a train and Pattison finishes fast as well. Medals should be Wanyoni and Moula then one from Sedjati, Ben, and Pattison. I might give the edge to Ben as he's tactically the best

How are the long jump numbers today still so far away from Beaman's 8.90 from 1968??? All the fancy shoes, better nutrition, bouncier tracks (and drugs) and yet we're still half a metre off a 50+ year old Olympic record?
Yeah I know Powell beat it in 1992 but he's the only one to do it.

Might be that Mexico City is at 7500 ft and no global championships have been held anywhere near that altitude since. The sprints jumps and throws would all be faster, higher, further if they ever were held there again.
But the distance events would be very interesting. ...just ask Jim Ryun!
Men’s 800 is one of the least exciting events this year. Wouldn’t be surprised to see it won in 1:43 high, 1:44 low and Hoppel could finish anywhere from silver to last. I think Arop will probably win however the 1500 was the mid-distance race of the championships.
I think the Paris race was pretty good. There’s no real superstar, but it’s very competitive.
Agreed there but when you look at the WR - the current crop of 800 guys are sooo behind. No one in this crop of runners is touching 1:41.xx even
Kersee probably shouldn’t have had Keni full-sending the rounds in retrospect.
Feel like its way harder to regulate effort in the high hurdles during the rounds. If you slow down too much you risk messing with your stride pattern and hitting a hurdle
Tobi Amusan has to be one of the most comical figures in the sport today. She may have escaped suspension but the difference between her now and 12 months ago post her "scare" is laughable.

no medals for Arop for you?
He's one of the best at navigating the rounds but in finals he needs to have so much go his way to medal. Tactically, he's a one-trick pony and he hasn't got the talent to execute it as well as Rudisha. He could hang on for a bronze but it's more likely he gets run down

Did that AIU report on the ruling ever come out? I thought they were going to release it yesterday.

I would love to see Keni pop an AR or WR without the rounds. Her 12.21 in Heat 1 indicates she has more.

I don’t think that is true any more. We’ll see in the final, but I think he will control it and run a new style of race. Will it be good enough to hold off each kicker? I don’t know.

I agree that in the past, he was great for 700m....but to me he looks a lot stronger at these championships than prior years...we'll see!
