Has there been a day where I think PJ cheated? Yes
Black page for this quote…
Sneakers, I know you’re loathe to feed the piranhas here, but is March 8 the day you believe to be suspect?
Sorry to get your hopes up but I just took a closer look at the day where I though PJ could have cheated, March 3rd, when he started really falling apart and the temptation to cheat would have been the strongest but closer inspection of the data reveals the speed anomalies I saw was simply because the watch paused recording GPS coordinates many times with durations of a few seconds to a minute and then resumed recording from pretty close to the same spots. Just a mix of taking a break and the watch temporarily pausing when not moving.
So PJ's data is squeaky clean again as far as I'm concerned.

Stop feeding the trolls guys. This is what bad faith looks like.
I ran with Paul a little over a week ago. I've given him and his crew a little advice here and there, and I feel like he trained to run 50-60 miles a day, which is far easier than 70+ when you factor the pace/recovery clock, but I have to say this whole run is not about a transcon record or some threshold that only Ashprihanal Aalto has achieved on a closed course. It never was. He's a decent enough runner to raise funds without preaching something so much. But it appears he only wants social media, and not listen to my advice. Paul and his crew had no idea it was me until I told them who I was at mile 4 in the RV. That was all I needed to know.
Welcome back to the thread, Pete. Some questions for you:
1- Did you meet the super secret sleuth that Cockerell sent to follow PJ on March 10th? The same day you ran with PJ? Or was Cockerell's secret sleuth you?
2- Do you agree with me in saying that PJ is by and large running this transcon and is not out to cheat? And PJ simply has bigger eyes than he can stomach?
3- Are you all healed up from your accident?
I think it goes without saying based on this thread that I'm not Will C's sleuth, so welcome to the thread. I ran 18 miles with Paul, of which we averaged about 18 minutes per mile, but mainly due to stopping for several hours to have my PT work on him. The pace picked up quite a bit to 9-9:30 pace (my transcon max) for the next 14ish miles leaving the RV. I was surprised that Paul ended that day with only 55ish miles (Sunday a week ago), as I figured even with the stop he would hit 60 at the pace he was going. He strikes me as a runner who pushes the pace here and there, so I am comfortable with seeing sub-9 minute pace, which is what I did not do, if at all. I won't comment on anything beyond that, as I joined him in Flagstaff, the most populous center of his run over several hundred miles.

I gave an honest faith effort in trying to find a "smoking gun" of PJ cheating. Sorry that the data doesn't line up with your prejudices about PJ's looks. I don't fabricate lies like so many of you have repeatedly done.
lol do you have time on YOUR hands. Let's see this less handsome data you have.
It's none other than Rob Pope, aka: the Australian Forest Gump. The same Rob Pope that ha been commenting in PJ's Instagram comments. Rob had tons of cadence drop outs in his data even though he was still moving. Just browse through his Strava uploads for his run across America back in 2018. For example, a couple of them below. And even back then I knew these cadence drop outs with Rob still moving doesn't mean he was cheating, and it was not because Rob doesn't have the supermodel good looks of PJ.
I won't speak for Rob Pope. But as much as I know about him, I would bet he'd share his garmin data in a second if ever scrutinized.
That part of transparency and respect is important in the ultrarunning/FKT community, which has been far overlooked by this run. If anything, they need to share the share.inreach link to live tracking. That will tell a lot about position, without the fancy urbanstreet link.

That's not the point and wouldn't do anything to clear Rob Pope since I did get his Garmin links and the cadence data with the dropouts is the same as in Strava if you download the data. So since Garmin and Strava both showed the cadence dropouts, does that mean Rob cheated?
The second one is a really tiny run, no need to link to that. No-one in the community is stupid enough to think that cadence cutting out is a problem. The first has a few hundred yards that are a bit strange, but we're worried about up to 10k at a time of real oddness. Day after day after day.
Compare his runs to the ES100. A nightmare event for him, trekking poles pretty much all the way, loads of climbing, super slow but NO cadence cut outs when moving. Countless Cadence zeroes where he's stopping but none of this awful 1...2...3...5 k of zero cadence.
Hello everyone, Rob Pope here - the British Forrest Gump (just happened to be the Australian marathon champion once) 😀
I heard I'd been mentioned so I thought I'd pop in.
My cadence drop outs were due to me using a stroller and pushing it predominantly with my watch hand, so unlike the pole issue, my wrist doesn't swing and therefore doesn't register on the accelerometer. If you was want to go hunting for when I was supported (about 45% of the time, so August 2017 would be a good time, for example), you'll see no cadence drop outs.
I concur with those that say he needs to share his Connect data.

Just when you think it couldn't get better... the Pope arrives.
Yet again we see another streetferret video trying to validate Paul’s cadence but not addressing ANY of the community’s concerns.
Their video explains cadence going down when using poles, but provides no explanation for the long periods with zero cadence. They’re trying to trick people by using the Strava app view which cuts off cadence at ~100, the same thing Paul did.
Releasing the Strava data would clear everything up. The refusal to do this due to “not enough time” while creating so much content is BS. Refusing to release Garmin data is the most damning evidence that something is not right.
A ferret, the Pope, and a transcontinental runner walk into Kalman's Bar and Filter...
The bartender says, "Sorry guys, before I can serve you, I'll need to see some data."
As the ferret and the Pope start sending a bunch of Garmin gobbledegook to the bar's verification website, the transcon runner, indignant, starts shouting in a bad movie accent, "Datas? I don't need no stinking datas! I'm doin' this for charity!" he shouts.
"Ohhhhh no. No. All I need is you leaving this bar and getting pulled over for speeding."
"Don't worry," says the transcon man. "I know how to blow a 0 cadence no matter what speed they clock me at. Besides, I'll be riding in the back of the RV! Not a problem!"
"Well, in that case, seeing as it's for charity..."

No Kalhman filter, no clustering of data and not even a whiff of python code. BUT - here is some math to consider. $203,000 in donations from 337,000 followers = $.60 donated / follower. Conclusion. Transcon followers are some of the cheapest people alive OR BOTS don't donate to charitable causes.

How on earth could you attempt something of this magnitude without intensely studying those who had done it before you? Especially the best to ever do it, who you said you were trying to beat? Insane
