I can't seem to find the top 10 all-time lists for 5000m and 10,000m.
So the link to thyroid medication causing all of these great times is alleged "rumors of wide-spread use in American camps"? That's difficult to argue with.How can we separate performance linked to synthetic-T4 rumors from EPO rumors?When you compare these times to American times in the pre-"EPO era" of the 1980's, they don't seem that significant. If there is a coincidence, it doesn't seem to require a "big" one.

Lance was a different man post-cancer. Pre-cancer, although he was great in 1 day events, he could barely finish the TDF. His comeback was a quantum leap. The fact of the matter is that these medications are prescribed much more frequently for the elite population. Most importantly, there are performance benefits after taking the medication. Does it fall within USADA and WADA's acceptable medications when prescribed by a doctor? Yes. Should it? Probably not. The guy on the line who has XX blood level .whatever lower than the guy who got it is at a disadvantage. End of story. There needs to be stricter standards and oversight obviously. This stuff is a game elite athletes have been playing for years. Mark McGwire used androstenedione. It was a legal supplement at the time he used it. It isn't legal now. Fam's comments pretty much confirm this scheme. Rupp and many runners are also on an inhaler. I could make the same kind of argument for that medication. There are "degrees" of asthma.

Fair enough, now show me a study that monitors thyroid level over 1 to 2 years. With training loads similar to elite level athletes .
Don't get me wrong, this medication very well could behave as a ped, but dont throw out some short study as definitive proof.
Big difference training hard over years vs a month or two.
I could all sorts of systems getting out of whack with long term overtraining.
But, if this medication allows you to train harder than you otherwise would innt it kind of. PED

Thyroid meds are not something to be played around with.
Wada knows they are not performance enhancer -- have ever even bothered to read the list of banned drugs? It's huge, and believe me, WADA wouldn't hesitate to ban Thyroid meds if they had even the slightest evidence and believe that they were performance enhancers.
