I think the issue is that the last time he was running these times indoors (in college) he looked strong, like he could rip a 45 in the open, which no longer appears to be the case

Why is one distance less stupid than another? I think it's awesome to see Runners compete in the in between distances- it's great to see a 400 m runner push himself for that extra lap, and neat to see how much flat speed an 800 M runner has.
The distances are all arbitrary anyway... unless you're from a certain Nation who has an obsessive romantic obsession with bizarre distances like 5280 feet...
