Anyone praising or justifying the actions by Hamas are missing the point. If the goal is to get equal rights for the Palestinian people, this will not help. Apartheid in South Africa ended due to overwhelming international pressure against it. These attacks will only hurt the international support for Palestinians.
I'm parapharsing Jon Stewart here, but there is little incentive now to help the Palestinian people. Israel's right wing (and the US's) can use it as a justification for more military, etc in the region. Authoritarian regimes in the area (like Iran's) can use them as an example of why these regimes must stay in power- so they can "protect" their people from evil Israel/USA.

Isreal has always wanted all of the Palestinians land. They have been annexing huge chucks of land in the West Bank for years and walled in Gaza and controls the flow of goods and electricity to the area.
There is no game plan here... they can't eliminate all arabs that have been affected by their policies and brutality, so there will always be revenge. There will never be an official war with Palestine (it is with Hamas), so they can't just kill 2 million people. Occupation won't work either.
