I will also say, I could not see and still do not see how NC State scores less than 50 points at the championship. With Chmiel today they would have been 35 and there will be a fair amount of dilution when OSU, CO, even NAU, AR are added so 60 would be great and I think closer to 70 realistic. I think there are a fair amount of runners around where their 3/4/5 will be.
The Stride Report updated their rankings and now have NC St with 1/8/10/18/29 which would be 66....and as I go down their list it seems reasonable to me.....there are a lot of "top 15" ladies....probably 30 of them!
That's pretty hard to believe that they found 50 other runners with better credentials... I mean yeah she hasn't done the best during cross country but still I mean running like that in the spring is a good sign.
This is no sign at all for Shaw. The outdoor season before this one Shaw ran a 15:40 5k and could not make NC State’s top seven in the fall. Expect the same. Consistency is the name of the game and that is not her MO. Shaw will not be in NC State’s top 7 unless there is injuries that put her there by default. All these runners will be ahead of her if healthy: Tuohy, Starliper, Chmiel, Bush, Nevada Moreno, Seymour, Mariah Howlett, Gionna Quarzo. If healthy they will be ahead of her. FloTrack has lost their minds if they think Shaw will be their 3rd runner!
Looks like this lineup is shaping up as planned. However, Starliper must be injured or at least slightly like Steelman last year. If she is injured it could be game over for NC State. They took the two lowest sticks and it ended in a tie?!?!?!
That’s be real here……I’m an NC State fan but there is no way they have any chance of 4 in the top 20 let alone top 6. They would have 3 in the top 20 if Kelsey was 100% (actually they would have 3 in the top 10), but that is not reality. NC state is the team to beat but they are not going to be unstoppable at all because of health. They have two in the top 10 with Tuohy and Starliper, but after that they may have nobody right now who can break in the top 20. they do have a lot who are between 20-50 though!
Dude... NC State put five in the top 20 in the 5K in the spring... Those are all the best distance runners... And chmiel is back... Have six runners who are easily top 20 potential... Things could go amazing they get six in the top 15.... or five in top 30.... either way no one else will be close!
Hopefully the rest of the planet and the running world has come back to earth! All these “experts”……FloTrack, Wood Report, Stride Report, posters on Letsrun, etc……all making crazy comments, rankings and predictions about NC State dominance???? FastTouhy pointed out that NM was good a while ago, and I said you can’t hand the title to NC State, because health is always a factor with NC State. Hopefully this was a wake up call for everyone! If Starliper is hurt, NC State could very well not win the title. Especially on OKl State’s course…..did you see today how bad Bush and Seymour faded today? It will be worst in Stillwater on that course, which is why I said it was a mistake that the Wolfpack is not going to race the course before Nats. Who cares about Tuohy and Chmiel, they can get 1 and 2 and lose in Stillwater. I’m very concerned! NM knows how to close and finish, and the back of the NC State lineup does not.
Starliper is not in the team picture with the 1st place award....apparently did not make the trip (?) so whatever the issue is it seemed to keep her from travelling with the team.
I think this race will be helpful for Bush and Seymour. I think the issue was they went out too hard; they were leading the race at the 2000m mark. In the future we will likely see them stalking the pace and drafting.

I was thinking similar - they might be better to focus on the NM runners rather than going out with the leaders.
this is possible....bush dropped back around the 3 k mark and then stayed around 20th place from there on in. Seymour dropped back closer to 4k...hard to say if the pace was too much for them. Bush's time of 20:12 seems pretty decent for her though...does it not? She was 20:27 last year. I'm sure she was hoping to be closer to 20min...but a decent time.

Agreed, their times were actually alright, it was a matter of how they just dropped back. They’re capable of running the fast times, possibly just a matter of a ‘lil bit more fitness to maintain?
Chmiel was AWESOME to see run so well! I’ve been wondering “why isn’t she in it?” ever since FloTrack did their “Workout Wednesday” with them back around April and Chmiel was right in the top group doing the workouts. So, finally great to see her back in it. She also ran 11 seconds faster this year than last (when she was battling McCabe up the finishing hill).

Times can be misleading, but to me the fact that she gapped Kaylee Mitchell fairly easily who had just run strong at ND and close to the top AL runners was the important thing.
WOW and a mega nod to OSU women. They know have these women running these times on the Stillwater course this year (having run Cowboy Jamboree and Pre-Nats)
