This thread was originally titled, "Incredible development in the $612,000 Transcon Goodge run, currently ongoing" but the new title is more descriptive. The description of the run is here.
To all the "oh poles cause drop out" gang. They don't. His cadence data correlates now. He's still using poles.
So he's genuine, right?
Potentially, now. Earlier though, not so much.
The question is...why is he starting at 1am (when no-one is around to run with him). Don't say "weather". I think the hottest it has been is the 70s and currently it's 32 where he is...
lol. Never have I ever "forgotten" to sign up for a race I was training for. And if I was going to bandit a race I would sure be a lot quieter about it. Ok yeah this guy sucks also

Yeah, I think this shows you the brainpower of the influencers we're dealing with here lol. I truly don't care if you bandit a race. But not having enough common sense to think, "Maybe I should be kind of sneaky about this," and instead blasting vids where everyone can see your bib, look you up, and call you out is comedy gold.
In case anyone needed evidence that it is POSSIBLE to drop cadence completely while running with poles, using a fenix 6, I present my cadence data from a 4 hour run.
However, to other's point, this could easily be cleared up by also presenting the Garmin Connect chart, which I have. All we want to see are the colored dots!
Momentary drops have never been the issue, and yours appears to show only momentary drops. So, yes, "drop cadence completely" for a moment; does yours "drop cadence completely" for a half mile, or a mile?
Hey guys, I haven't been on this thread in months. Can someone remind me a) what's it s about and b) what the conclusion was c) And why people are still talking about it?
There’s a new “influencer” (Paul Johnson)with very little ultra experience doing the transcon thing again. He boldly claimed before he started that he was going to break the record. He gave up going after the record after 4 days but is still doing the run. A new thread was started about it, but it was quickly closed by the moderators so we are all still talking about it on the William Goodge thread.

...you forgot the bit that at the start his data was extremely dodgy, with distances of a few miles at a time being covered at excessive speed, low HR and ZERO cadence.
And between March 3-8 he had anomalies in his data where there were major cadence cut outs but he kept moving, and we've been looking for answers in an uncertain world. Since the red flags were raised, cadence has been perfect which is good, and he's been flying the last few days, although today looks tougher with 24 miles in 8 hours.
Funnily enough only today Goodge posted on Insta explaining how he affords his jet-setting lifestyle having been 25k in debt. "I found that the brands liked unusual things, like running stunts, so I travel all over the world doing them..."

I needs a Cliffs Notes version. Thanks.
Essentially, Will Cockerell and crew don't like handsome men (Goodge and Paul Johnson) running across America and don't know how to download their data from Strava even though several of us have shown them many times how to do it. They keep wrongly assuming the simplified Strava graphs are infallible even though I have many times downloaded the full data and graphed it for them to show why they are so wrong.
I strongly suspect Cockerell is flying to America (again) to be boots on the ground
Sneakers, I fully acknowledge that you are vastly intellectually superior to myself and possibly even everyone else in this thread. You may be the smartest person on earth.
But that doesn't have anything to do with the fact that this whole PJ thing stinks. We may all be dumber, but we can certainly tell when something doesn't look right.

Can someone change this record? I think it's stuck.
Good spot, that is truly bizarre. There are 400 metre walks in 3 mins, followed by 5 minute Ks. That is a horrible way to do it - to fartlek a transcon? The 11k in 67 mins is tough enough, but to do it with really quick spurts, at one stage he's doing 3.37 k pace, is what a worst enemy would do to a transconner to f*ck them up.
I guess on reflection he was fartlekking because he got bored doing 7.40ks, and they were just doing their own thing. But that makes his pace-helping pretty much completely redundant, and they certainly can't have been doing it together.
