PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown Alden-Rothenberg Men's and Women's Cross Country/Track & Field Coaching Chair Ken Hunt has announced the hiring of Collin Zeffer as the
Hiring women in these assistant to assistant positions is barely progress.
Hiring ONE woman in a 8 to 10 person staff is a laughable attempt at equity
I guess you all feel that because they have title “coach” instead of d-ops they should be grateful
When I open a position online 95% of the job applicants are men. There are a lot more men willing to do the job, and for less money. It’s pretty rare to find someone in that 5% who would be a great fit for the team and staff. Hiring just because of gender isn’t helping me get my bonus at the end of the year. I hire based on fit for co-worker and with team. If the women’s pool was 50/50 there would be a lot more women in the coaching ranks
NORMAL, Ill.- Illinois State University Athletics is excited to announce the latest addition to its coaching staff. Director of Track and Field and Cross Country,

Blatantly obvious the kids there didn’t like or respect her. Anyone with half a brain who saw the Harvard kids throw in person last year could see that. This has also been a done deal for most of the summer, so it’s safe to say she was forced out at Harvard. What sucks for the Crimson is they waited too long to retain their real coach and had to watch him walk for a better opportunity. I think all their studs are gone except Ikeji, so he’s the real loser here. A shame.

Hire cheap, save money in the budget for your bonus = expect move

if she did leave, it was on her own. there is no way she would get fired. She did an amazing job.
She recruited the throwers that went on to win national championships. She developed them very well. She hired a great assistant coach and supervised his work with the hammer throwers.
Darcy did a tremendous job. Anyone who slanders her clearly has no idea what they are talking about. Remember - Amo was only there 1 year as a volunteer. And Darcy coached the 1st team All-American in the discus.
No throws coach in their right mind would stay at Harvard over UVA, Amo was leaving regardless of how hard Harvard tried to keep him.

You should read some of the throwers comments. I don’t think any of them were high on her.
Ask her athletes from last year if she did a tremendous job and let the board know what they tell you.
Harvard recruits itself. Thoroughbreds will show up to a school like Harvard no matter if it’s Anatoliy Bondarchuk or some bum from Southie coaching. Don’t give me that recruiting nonsense. When you routinely bring in world class junior talent they SHOULD develop into NCAA scorers and champions. And they sure as heck should be beating Princeton more than once every 40 years. They were nothing of the sort before last year. You don’t need to be Ivy League educated to see the one glaring difference.
I’m sure she’s a lovely person, and this isn’t a personal attack, but this is a quantitative sport and results talk. From the outside looking in it seems she brought in someone to do the heavy lifting while she sat back and got the credit. I’m calling bs. And there is no effing way Brown pays more or offers more in any fashion than Harvard does. The rumor is they had her hired before Kinsley even cleaned out his desk. Brown bought the hype without doing their homework and think they’re getting a steal. The real steal is in Charlottesville. Had the powers that be acted fast they probably could have kept Amo and had a contract signed before any other school swooped in. I guess we will see how the Brown throwers perform and can judge by that. It should be noted her athletes at Brown didn’t exactly light the world on fire in her first go round there.
We do agree on one thing though, no way anybody would stay at Harvard over a school like UVA if given a choice between the two. Any staff or administration that allows mediocre results year after year and doesn’t reward the people who actually help the kids produce isn’t worth working for… for any paycheck.

you are full of crap. If Harvard recruits itself why aren't they winning NCAA championships in every sport?
Darcy inherited a garbage throws program at Harvard and built it up to make it national caliber. Amo came in at the end after all the hard work had been done.
She also coached Sam Welsh to 6th in the country in the discus (as a freshman) in 2019 before Amo got to Harvard. Don't forget the Ivy League didn't have outdoor track for 2 years because of COVID.
How did UVA get a steal? Amo can coach the hammer but nothing else. He's never coached the javelin, or the discus, or the shot put, he's never recruited, he's never written strength plans, he's never done any administrative work or compliance paperwork.
BTW Virginia is putting 95% of it's scholarship money into distance and Lananna just signed a contract extension through 2028. Good luck Amo with a half scholarship for the men and 1 scholarship for the women.

For what it's worth, the heavy lifting had already been done before Amo got to Harvard. Ikeji had the 15th best throw in the nation in 2022 despite missing 2 years from COVID. Ratcliffe would have been top 30 in 2022 with a 64m throw in Australia, despite also missing 2 years from COVID. And apparently Darcy didn't even get the credit because Amo is now at UVA.
Amo went to one practice session per day. Darcy went to 3 sessions per day - one for Jav, one for discus, and one for shot.
Darcy was recruiting, Darcy was doing the paperwork and compliance logs. Darcy was designed the yearly plans for all the throws. Darcy wrote the strength plans and supervising lift. She decided the competition schedule. Darcy was ordering new throwing implements and repairing the cage, nets, and implements. Darcy was taking care of travel logistics to meets and getting food for the team. Darcy was fundraising and doing alumni engagement. Darcy was organizing home meets. Darcy was coaching 75% of the event group and still had the final say over Amo in the hammer. Amo was videotaping the hammer throwers and that's it.
Amo is in for a RUDE awakening when he's at the throws area for 6 hours a day (at practice 8 hours a day on lift days) trying to coach all 5 throws, plus the recruiting and administrative work on top of that.
The best thing to happen to those harvard athletes was covid. it allowed them essentially two years of training without the rigors of harvard. this allowed them to train in their home countries with their own coaches and not be subject to any of the obstacles we faced here in america.
Sam Welsh competed for harvard but was not coached by her, i know because i talked to sam.
Darcy did not coach any of the throwers at the ncaas, i watched her take film and scream at the athletes to come over as they went one by one to brandon.
humiliating but you could've saved face if you just accepted it and gave the kid his dues for helping you out, instead you went the insecure way and are getting busted left and right.
I spoke to every kid on the portal from harvard and they had the same story.
Amo will have a lot to learn and i don't see the same success happening at virigina, especially as I and several others passed on the job because of what the viriginia model will be.
end of the day Darcy quit being a dick, be gracious you got to be a part of that and share it with the people who helped make it what it was. What a cool story it could've been for you if you were just willing to be open minded.
Funny thing about relying on the athlete's thoughts are that you just might not get the objective truth but you get the how I feel truth from them. If she was the driving force behind that group and she was there day in and out and put it together. Then she's the one. No matter who helped her. Her job is not to have them like her. Her job was to make that group successful. Not saying you don't want your athletes to like you. Just saying you can have your team completely adore you and it be a last place team.
