Current betting odds have moved strongly in her favor:
as of 8:00 AM 9/11: Harris: 51.6% Trump: 47.3%
They were essentially reversed in the hours before the debate. Complete reversal.
I don't think anyone foresaw such a complete dominance by Harris. Do not underestimate that lady. She wins a LOT of elections. Only one she ever lost was the pres primary.
I thought she won too. Polished and prepared. However, I heard nothing but empty platitudes from her. We have yet to see an unscripted interview with her. Democrats are just trying to hold on to the football and run out the clock after they very undemocratically and unceremoniously threw Biden under the bus. Because, you know, Trump is an “existential threat to Democracy,” lol.
Debt/GDP at 120% and rising, perpetual wars that never should’ve happened costing hundreds of billions, and a border insurrection for three straight years before Biden/Harris finally sought a “bipartisan” solution… nothing to see here, move along folks. The country has never been in a worse position, but, hey, the most well telegraphed “coup” in history that Pelosi and prominent Dems needed and encouraged for the optics (nevermind all the Feds that were in on it stoking animosity as well) is an indictment for the “existential threat to Democracy.”
People really are that stupid. The same people who couldn’t think critically and question any of the institutionalized Covid hysteria.
A lot here, so I'll fact check. She won, was polished and prepared, but has not done unscripted interviews? The debate was not scripted, she was prepared for any question as YOU said.
Existential threat: Trump filed 60 lawsuits but produced no credible evidence in court. Recounts, nada. He called officials in multiple states to change or stop ratification of votes. He appointed fake electors , asked the VP to select them instead of the ones elected by the people. His lawyers pled guilty to racketeering for vote tampering.
Whether or not Trump is responsible for Jan 6, he as called them patriots and heros and vowed to pardon them. The violently attacked and injured 150 police officers, broke into the Capitol, vandalized it, all in an attempt to stop the ratification of the vote of the people.
He called for the execution of the top US General because they disagreed. He called for disbanding the Constitution. He asked for total immunity for before, during, and after his Presidency. That is enough on the existential threat, but there is more.
Coup: Harris was elected by the people to be 2nd in line for the Presidency. Biden showed cognitive decline and stepped down. The DNC voted her as the candidate. This was as Drmocratic as possible. Democrats are fine with it. Are Republicans fine with their choice now?
Border: Trump did little as President and actively tanked a bipartisan bill to help the border. Biden worked with Republicans to make that bill. Trump has nothing to stand on here.
People are really uninformed to keep repeating the election lies, border lies, Harris won't speak lies, etc.
But thanks for at least conceding that she won the debate. It is fine if it does not change your opinion or vote. Being able to express opinions is what makes America Great.

Speaking of stupid - you took your talking point from JD Vance's post debate interview almost verbatim.
Do any of you idiots ever have an independent thought?
Kamala is in no way "center left". She was the furthest left senator in modern US politics.
Joe is without scandal? As Joe would say, "c'mon man."
look, Dems are all the same when they get to be president.
they all become center left institutionalists. Clinton, Obama, Biden...all pretty much the same.
that's what harris says she'll be and that's what she'll be.
And yes, Joe is without scandal.
Note: Hunter Biden does not work for the Biden Admin.
This is true. In fact, there is a good argument that Clinton's second term was closer W Bush on issues like welfare reform and the repeal of Glass Stegall than any prior Democrat. Ironically, Biden, who was the most centrist coming in, may have been the furthest to the left (not by a lot) with a lot more progressive policies in the IRA (mainly the prescription drug price stuff) and a reinvigorated FTC that is pissing off all the corporate giants with a hard line on monopolies.
Harris will undoubtedly be the same sort of centrist Dem as Biden as she has been hand picked by the corporate DNC and Biden backers. Policy positions have basically been more of the same from Harris.
The irony is that this election will end up being extremely close because Harris is not willing to go big and is just going to count on the Dem base to show up with enough independents to get her over the line, while Trump is able to do way better against Harris than he should by being the one with the big bold ideas.

Focusing on debt/GDP is a suicide metric. Sure, Debt/GDP is about where it was under Trump. That would only be relevant if the interest rate on the debt remained the same. Because of Bidenflation, the cost of carrying that debt is now much higher. We are looking at about $1 trillion a year in interest on the debt this year. That’s about 20% of federal revenue. Every day that we go without significant rate cuts drives that cost higher. As old treasuries are replaced with new Treasuries at higher rates our financial death spiral continues. We would need about 2% in rate cuts just to reach a point where interest on the debt begins reversing course.

I’m not a fan of Vance, nor of Trump. I know you won’t believe that, but it’s true. But, more than anything, it’s important to point out the hypocrisy of the left, and that they really have no platform beyond racial grievance/oppression politics, reproductive rights, and the other guy is an “existential threat to Democracy,” said with a straight face in the wake of the trampling of individual liberties with institutionalized COVID, the coup to *force* Joe Biden out, the attempt to Democratize all of the would-be voting illegal immigrants that could simply have been stopped during a three year “insurrection” with the correct messaging and executive orders, and the unwillingness to meaningfully tackle government spending and the debt (not to mention entitlements, which are easily remedied with some simple changes).
Agip is correct about being wealthier and more *civil* than ever thanks to the full march of time, the fact that we rebuilt the world after WW2 and have enjoyed global reserve currency status, and have bought our current prosperity with ever more debt (debt to GDP was 50% under Clinton/Gingrich). But we are on the precipice here and people are just too dumb to see it. I’m actually libertarian by registration and policy, but, man I just can’t believe the hollow and manufactured rhetoric the Dems get away with. It’s actually appalling that people are so gullible.
As to the question you highlighted, what specifically did Harris offer beyond “turn the page” and empty platitudes? What specifically about herself and her policy prescription so compelled you, other than she’s not Joe Biden nor Donald Trump? What excites you?
I'm genuinely curious what lies you believe were stated by the ABC moderators.
Muir cited falsely misleading crime data study that failed to include worst crime cities LA, NYC and Chicago.
Muir asked Harris if she ever met Putin in response to Trump truthfully saying Harris was deployed to Europe in 2022 for failed trip to stabilize relations between Ukraine and Russia. Muir then let Harris claim that was a Trump lie.
Davis interrupted Trump to state "there is no state in this country where it is legal to kill a baby after it’s born" - that's an easy lie, legal in six states + Washington DC.
Those are just a few of many. Get the gist?
Trump never mentioned that it was legal to kill babies after birth. he simply mentioned that Walz supported that. So that was a weird intervention from the moderator (actually putting words in candidate mouth. I thought that was Harris’ role)
However, which are the 6 States where it’s legal. Did not know that.

interest paid on the debt as a percent of GDP was higher 1982-1999. We got through that. It is now thought of as a good era. And rates are indeed falling fast. The 10 year was 5% in 2022...now it's 3.8% and falling fast. That will help make the debt more affordable.
Look, we're all worried about the debt/spending issues. It wasn't even a question at the debate, shockingly. I'll agree this nation is sleepwalking into a financial crisis unless it stops with the deficits.

Obama and Biden governed "center left"? Right. And CNN is center too.
If Trump had any discipline, he would have simply responded this was after Harris talked. "First, she did not answer the question (as in the first question of the debate). Second, what she said is a lie (project 2025, Charlottesville, abortion, you name it). You can't believe anything she is saying. What have she and Biden done the last 3 1/2 years?" And then offer her time to actually respond to the question asked. Repeat.
Unfortunately Trump does not have that discipline. I would prefer another R candidate. But no way I believe what Harris is saying these days.
Am I the only one who thought the United States citizens are the only loser after last night? Both of these idiots couldn't run a corner store, let alone a country. Where are the real leaders?
There are NO real leaders in America. It is either about Celebrity or Money, that is what America has chosen to value. Neither can provide any redeeming moral value or problem solve on a national, let alone a global, scale. If left up to Trump, Elon Musk would run the country as a successful businessman - and run the country into the ground. Why? because people are expendable who don't agree with their personal outlook - and as long as their own personal bottom line increases, then that is what is good for the country, at least to them.
There are exceptions to this generalization, but they have no hope of traversing the economic crevasse that would get them in power without the corrupt party system, that dominates the political landscape here, backing them.

You guys keep on trying to sell Kamala as a centrist. There is nothing in Harris’ voting history that remotely suggests that idea. She was named the most liberal member of the senate. Her presidential platforms have included such policies as Medicare for All, decriminalization of all drugs, a mandatory gun buy back program, a $25k first time home buyer credit, student loan forgiveness, government price fixing, anti-free trade policies, co-sponsoring the Green New Deal with Bernie Sanders, increased taxation, amnesty for illegal aliens, an open border policy, etc. Tell me how all those things qualify her as a moderate / centrist?

What drivers of federal budget deficits / debt may have been different under Clinton/gingrich? what is your stance on tax policy and how less tax revenue contributes to the debt problem you are so worried about? if Trump tax cuts are re-upped, CBO expects $4T extra to deficit over 10 years. tax the wealthy, increase the cap on SS payroll tax, tax corporations, crack down on tax evasion.

if elected she would govern from the center left like Clinton, like Obama, like Biden.
not sure how much more clear I can be than that. \
Sure, Rs will call that 'marxism' and 'socialism' but they've been doign that since the 1950s and it's just stupid.
1. Babies are being aborted up to 9 months and after 9 months
2. Haitians are eating pets in Illinois
3. “They” are doing transgender surgeries on illegal aliens
4. Many, many professors at Wharton approve and support his business plan
5. Additional tariffs will not cause prices to increase
6. His administration had the best economy in American history
7. Police overreacted on Jan 6. He told his supporters to peacefully march to the Capitol
8. The US is crumbling, being destroyed by millions of illegal aliens being let out and into the USA from prisons, insane asylum, etc
9. Its a lie that he didn't want the border bill to be passed, he just wanted to make a better deal.
10. He could solve the Israel Hamas war in a few days, and he might do it before he is elected
Even the way he says things sound so made up. Do people not sense that? "Oh yea, many wharton professors say im the best ever! I can solve Russia ukraine in a day!! This is the way very young kids speak...in these grandiose defensive styles. If John McCain or George Bush spoke like this people would think they are ill. It's just so obvious he is crazy and doesn't know anything?
