Hocker looks like he is the 4th-6th best guy, maybe in there for the medal fight.
probably no medal. Kerr, Nuguse, and Jakob look so good, among others. But another top 6 with a new PR would be great. I obviously hope he does get his nose in there for a shot at top 3 though. He might be every bit as talented as Nuguse if he could stay healthy. we all know that is such a part of the game of being best of the best.
RIP title contender potato tim. seems like a great guy. hope he can regain form, but history tells us that won't be the ending.
For people who love this event, this is quite sad. Tim has been a stalwart and a great champion. Seeing him not even make the final is disappointing.
On Jakob's showboating: what do people want? Yet another athlete who goes out there, hopes to do their best, and gives all thanks to God? No. He's the best and he's making sure everyone knows it, including his competitors. The way to stop that is for someone to be better. The field has their chance in the final.
This is amazing. Somehow there is no middle ground between between being an arrogant a**hole and a boring milquetoast?
Haha I thought Jakob was in trouble at the bell and then he casually dropping a 50.63 in the last lap of a 3:35 semi while running wide from last to first and showboating and amping up the crowd. Simply on another level.
Pretty ridiculous. Of the qualifiers in that semi Hocker had the second fastest last lap at 52.42…1.79 seconds slower than Jakob.

have to wonder how that semi informs Jakob's strategy for the final. should he just sit and kick?? If Yared still has the legs after two races, I think he'll drag the field under 3:31 and podium, which is probably ideal for Jakob. But if no one does real work, should Jakob make it fast? No Katir who has a good kick. If I'm Jakob I put all my energy into holding Nuguse's wheel the first three laps, then find Jake Wightman in the crowd and stare into his soul while crossing the finish with a 5 meter gap
50.63 is insane. What in the world. Centro’s last 400 at Rio was I believe 50.62; granted the last 700 there was insane, but still - 50.63 in a ~3:35 race, jogging all the way in?? Insane
Preposterous to see that split. I suspect he’ll still make it fast but it seems like he has the Morceli style last 400 in his arsenal, which made Morceli pretty unbeatable in his prime in 3:32-3:35 champs finals.
Jakob said he was practicing running from the back (like so many thought he lacked experience in from his Diamond league season), he was firing up the audience and thanked all his competitors, even made sure to thank Cheruiyot twice. Dont get the hate. Great two races!

The way he looked, he can handle any fitness challenge. I bet he kicks as early and hard as he needs to avoid traffic.
