Tuohy isn’t Koko. Tuohy isn’t Perrier. Nor is Tuohy Norris. Tuohy has been closing many track races in 32 seconds for the final 200 meters. That was last year.
There is no reason to think that she can’t close a final 109 meters in 16 seconds now.
I’m looking forward to watching the race in just a few minutes from now.
Remember this?
Turns out 4:08 for 1500. And guess what she closed in? 16 seconds.
So, what IS reality?
She closed faster than I would have expected. But it still was ~17.77 sec. from 1500 to 1609m according to the offical splits, not 16. It was very evenly run overall (except for the 3rd lap, the pacers fault?), not like 4:10+16.
Monson also has PR's of 14:31 and 30:51 so (at least for now) is a much more distance oriented athlete than KT; apples to oranges I think. That said, not much would surprise me with respect what Tuohy might run for 3k at this point; my post was prior to seeing how much she negative split the 1500. There may indeed be a lot more there. Exciting to watch.
and... you ain't going pro, without the burrrrrr eeeet ooo's
i am sort of hoping she finishes her college career doing the best she can in the sport she enjoys - and then goes on to a happy normal life without all the nonsense and hassle of being a "pro"

The unspoken truth! We all know it, but no one wants to admit it - even WHEN THEY GET CAUGHT.

Elite endurance sports are such a dirty cesspool; if her trajectory followed something along the lines of your post I think there would be something awesome about that. Back in the real world though, when you're as talented as she is you have to take your shot; I just don't know how you get to the tippy top doing it clean. Sucks to think about.
I think about it the way I think about Sydney. Sydney is/was a legitimate natural talent from early on, but forced imho by the realities of the sport to play the game. I don't blame her for doing so either. It is what it is.
