Not trying to sway anyone and could care less. God gave me a brain and I'm not a preschool toy Woody...aka beyond a reasonable doubt. You have the right to believe what you want and...well...good luck with that as it looks like Mama raised a fool or you are just plain ignorant. Gear changes along the course? Yeah I do that in all my marathons and I've seen 100's if not 1000's of people stopping along the way doing the same thing, all the while running 2:50 plus pace. I have a lot swamp land up in the Rockies, are you interested?

Isn't it funny that people just happen to post here right after just happening to bump into Kip Litton in person

I didnt know about Let's Run until someone at the running store mentioned it to me. Could it be one and the same person posting these "Kip Litton comeback" messages?

Fortunately or Unfortunately, From this day forth, "kip" will be synonymous with cutting a course short.

Well that's a new twist, I presume the number passed is equally valid if they are being passed in a car or in non-existent races, the results of which can be seen here

Oh and with my lack of understanding, could this be improved with an explanation for the attempt to not be recognised at the start? Does this raise more money in some way?

You're assuming that's what he was doing. You have no way of knowing what Kip Litton was thinking about at the start of his races. Most likely he was thinking about how he was positively impacting the lives of all those poor children you ignore.

Thanks for the insight Trollist, what an apropriate name. I am restricting my remarks to the races as this is a running forum. I have raised a money myself in every Marathon I have taken part in but that is irrelevant to a discussion about racing within the rules.

You still fail to explain why someone would cover up a race number and attempt to be incognito. In many races I have taken part in it is specifically stated that not displaying the number correctly at all times can result in disqualification.

Yes, and in some miraculous way, you pass 100's, if not 1000's of runners and end up stopping along the way, while not being recognized by one runner, ever!, for a wardrobe change. Yes, this is what we all do.

You passed people running unbelievable negative splits, while rarely hitting a mat or being in photos at certain check points and not one person that you allegedly passed remembers you blowing by them. Anyone running that fast for the 2nd half of a marathon would have dozens and dozens of people remember you. Of course, not one runner or spectator ever has and if "one" did, the lack of photographic evidence at certain check points would refute that.

People who raise money for charities are just the opposite and would want to record their progress and share it in this day and age of information technology, NOT hide it!!!!

If a runner stopped for a "wardrobe" change, someone would be there with camera asking how's it going, keep it up, get back in the race and pass a bunch of runners, etc...........................................

Your passing more runner theory is ridiculous. As mentioned, if you started in the back and passed that many runners and you legitimately ended up with a sub 3 hour time, how would you prove it? How do you get the money and who do you tell? How do you explain never being seen by anyone and not being in photos that EVERYBODY else is in?

Rational thinking people get it and most don't care. The irony is the few who have shown their lack of intellect combined with moronic genes to not be able to use simple reasoning.

Did Mr. Litton finally find a decent PR-damage-control-guy? Obviously not on that agre$$ive level as Mr. Lance Armstrong's counsel, but certainly professional indeed.

I'd focus on the reputation in the general internet though. Here in this board Mr. Litton is certainly burned.

No non-runner damagecontroller can turn this thread around. I hope for him he is paid by the hours! *g* He'll love us soon!

- runners do not get overly excited about charity-running, as we attribute a lot of negative influence on our sport to the unfortunate mix of charity and running-events.

- no one who has not a fair bit of experience with crowded starts can understand our scepticism

- age-group ranks are fiercly battled about, something noncompetitive athletes cannot understand. Doubts about age-group awards bring out the tigers in us.

- "street cred" and the general achiever-attitude amongst runners go hand in hand. Running is highly measurable, and only a special breed of sportman excel in that comparable-competitive environment. Even a single DQ hits a runner's credibilty HARD. Outsiders will not get it. There was no reportedly high-profile runner from Mr. Litton's area chiming in in his favour.

Agree totally, especially about the DQs, if I ever had one I would be way beyond mortified, two and I'd not show my face again.

And another aspect, before I head off in the rain for a run:

- Have never been to pubs much. But assume even those social places cannot surpass the amount of conversations that runners have on their training runs.

- IF there is something fishy, a couple of guys running together will brainstorm the shit out of the subject at hand!

- out of all aspects of life (of a runner), running is THE MOST talked about aspect. Amongst knowledgeable peers that is.

Of course I am aiming at this: If someone wants to convice this thread he better be good!
