I remember when Amber Trotter broke on the scene and it's amazing how we never thought what girls would do what she was able to do and now she'd be considered slow compared to this new crop of girls.
As I said the other day ,Hedengren is the best I've ever seen. Cain a close second.
I'm from NYS and saw a fair amount of Cain and Tuohy; both extraordinary. Cain had incredible range down to 1:59pt and could go all the way to 2miles. Hedengren covers mile thru XC like no one else; even better than Tuohy who was/is a similar type.
Going forward and assuming she stays healthy, I expect Hedengren will enjoy a better career than the other two. Probably not the 1500m runner Cain was (she was truly special) but better across the board. Hedengren makes it look easy.
LOL! I love these posters! As "I" said the other day, Hedengren is the best I've ever seen.
Wow, you are amazing! She breaks the 2 mile record by how much and you have to let us know that she's the best you've ever seen?
That is some amazing insight, you must really know your stuff Captain Obvious. LOL!
Hysterical. You are not getting it, which is surprising and slightly sad.
I said the other say...she was the best I'd ever seen. Nothing more than that. Nowhere did I say that I am the only one who feels this way, or that I somehow see in Hedengren something that no one else has.

Not complicated.
Scotty, if you and King 99 keep revving up the other board members we are going have to pause your posting privileges for up to 48 hours in the Playground to keep the peace here at the Dyestat Message Boards. I am doing the same for Grote so don't feel picked on. You can continue posting on the NJ board. Thanks for your understanding.

But has anyone pointed out how disrespectful Kosgei was in the post race interview? She thought Hendengren was a pacer. Come on, at that level everyone knows who is in their race.
I had a ton of August and September kids in my high school graduation class. They all turned 18 at the very beginning of the academic year. Even had a July 1st kid on my XC team that turned 19 6 weeks after graduation.
I never knew a single person that did the opposite. Nobody turned 17 their senior year.
I figured that's the way it worked all across the US, but maybe it's dependent on state/region of country.
Here in AZ the cutoff is August 31st. There are occasional exemptions made, but not common. Basically anyone born in September will be the oldest in their class.
I have the same birthday (9/23) as Hedengren and was 17 when I graduated from high school in 1987.
(Nobody asked, but I ran a 15:40 5k (track) my senior year. I’m amazed by Hedengren’s time!)

It's a really trashy statement. Even if you don't who she is, you don't demean your competition by calling her a pacer.

tough crowd here. there's probably a language barrier, and these girls are racing people they've never seen before. it's not insulting to say you thought somebody was a pacer. Pacers run at the front. Somebody they've never seen before, possibly never heard of, was running at the front. Again, language barrier. There's probably a lot of information that slips through for some of these girls.

With Jane being about 9-10" taller than Koskei, the latter thought maybe she had died and gone to pacing heaven. From Jane's comments about someone clipping her heels, Koskei did not let an iota of the opportunity slip by
Your posts get deleted because your accusations are baseless. To assume a high schooler is doping because the school she is going to attend has a fast runner is maybe the biggest reach I've ever read. In the days before the internet, your accusations in an actual publication would get you sued for slander. Accusations without any evidence is typical for this website, I suppose.
to be fair, 99.9% of the accusations that got to stay on this board are bassless though. Even the brojos encourages it in the mod rules by stating "we believe doping "discussions"(which are flat-out accusations 99.99999% of the times) lead to a cleaner sport".
Question about Hedengren's stride. It seems almost all elites bring their feet so high up on the back of the stride. It looks like she keeps hers quite low comparatively. She's an amazing runner, so it definitely works. Is it because she has such long legs she can get a great stride length without a high back kick?
Absolutely. If she actually ran smart she would be so much better. Hopefully she will figure that out as she develops. It’s always sad to see fast times with terrible pacing
What are you guys talking about?
These splits look really consistent, after a slightly slow 73.3 second pace first 200m, then a quicker 71 (to catch up to the lights?), she ran an almost metronomic 9 laps between 72.0 and 72.5, before accelerating the last 2 laps under 70.5. That seems almost ideal pacing.
I just assumed they were being sarcastic. They have to be......

Should the Lord will, by the time the East African runners respectfully refer to Jane as “the giant mizuno”, within five years, Jane will run 13:58 for 5000m, stringing together 12.5 laps run at 67sec/lap at a stride rate of 190spm.
In a previous post, I lined up Jane's PRs against two greats Tirunesh Dibaba and Paula Radcliffe.
Tirunesh had run a 14:51 5K at 17 years old. Her birthday is disputed, but 2003 likely would have been her rising senior year if she was in the American school system when she ran that time.
Paula had PRs of 16:16, 4:16 1500 (4:33 mile conversion) and a whopping 8:51 3K as of 1992, the year Paula would have graduated from the American school system.
I guess it's possible all three are/were doping at that time. But I posted to point out the fact that while it's unprecedented for American girls to run this fast, it's not really in other countries. Still extremely rare but it could be seen as us catching up.
Doping is not unprecedented in high school. Just because kids are kids, doesn't mean they are not doping. But I don't like to throw out doping accusations out just because someone has run fast. Progression at the high school level, is hardly a straight line. Improvement can look crazy. Some girls never improve. I had teammates run the same times all four years in high school. Some improve at wild rates. To be honest I could count myself as one of those people. I had just never run before and my body responded to training ridiculously well. I'll never forget Christie Ruteledge of F-M. This girl ran a 30:00 5K as a freshman and by her junior year finished 2nd at NXN.
This just goes to PROVE that astro uses a VPN to manipulate post reports and up vote/down votes. He was the first one to suggest that others were doing this in an attempt to explain why the voting was so unfavorable to him and why so many of his posts were deleted through "auto-delete." He claimed that people were manipulating votes to favor Valby and Wiley and many others, but alas, we now have proof that it was him all along. Despite being banned he is still posting = VPN.
