Not that April racing matters, but I find it very interesting how Hocker yet again underperforms off of a slow pace...I mentioned this going into Paris last year but he seems to really struggle to run any faster than ~52 for the last lap, and especially he struggles to run any faster than 12-mid for the last 100...he has an impressive ability to run fast closing splits in fast races (maybe the best ever), but if Jakob drops the 1500, I'm not sure I back Hocker to win. He would certainly have lost to Centrowitz in Rio (despite his Paris race being more impressive).

Centro is really, really good at this. Completely comfortable in his own skin, a gold medalist and obvious fan of the sport. With the sense of humor and connections to the players, I’d love to see him host or co-host a track podcast.

Centro just made a horrible call again, Wanyonyi will definitely win again tomorrow
As someone who has unfortunately watched LIV Golf very closely, this is similar in some ways. At times feels like you are a watching a propaganda piece with the announcers constantly hyping the product. Just stick to the races, no need to be transparent shills.

Let’s be real, Jakob would have won this easily. 1:50 for the final 800m with a 3:30 win.
Wanyonyi closed in 51.5, and seemingly still had some left in the tank, not sure Jakob could've matched that. That said, he's definitely in the mix, as he also closed the Budapest semi in 51.6 which was a 3:34.99 race. Jakob's kick is actually underrated I'd say.

As someone else mentioned- he did hold the mile road world record for a while there. So he’s got some 1500m/mile chops.
Cole Hocker, the greatest racer over 1500. Give me a break. Serious beat down. Kerr, Yared and Hocker can get on their knees and thank Jakob for transforming the 1500. Yes, for now with Jakob pacing one of them will win the championship 1500s for now, sub 3:30. If they ran it the old way, Wanyonyi would be routinely wiping the floor with them. Wanyonyi will break the 800 world record and then I hope he sets his sights on the 1500 in future years.
Glad to see you aren’t overreacting to one race in April.
Appreciate they have an 800 to think about, but allow it to drop to 3:35s and you're gonna miss out on this $100k per slam. Same exact thing the 5000m guys do with Jakob at major championships.
The 1500 guys totally messed that up. Why in the world would you not run the wheels out of every 800 runner by going 5 seconds faster?
It's not as easy as it sounds. As you saw in the Olympics with Jakob, and as you saw from Hocker today, when you lead, you are doing the work for someone else. If you dilly dally, as confident as you might be in your kick, you make yourself vulnerable to even bigger kickers. You gotta be a couple of seconds better than the field to dominate from the front. That's not easy to do when you're almost certainly level with your competitors.
Hocker was definitely trying out the 2016 Olympic Centro strategy. Nuguse just made a bolder move earlier on than anyone did in that Olympic final. But even if Nuguse didn’t make that move when he did, i doubt Hocker would have held him and Wanyonyi off on the last lap
