Ole great runs a converted 13:51 at his conference meet. Based on what he and Bocovich have run after leaving Olaf, if I'm Skemp and Turlington I redshirt Outdoor and transfer. What is it about Power's training that makes people so much faster when they leave?

Who will race this week?

Lars looks safe in the 3K. Mo is safe in the 5K. Will either try to qualify in another race? Will Boone be healthy enough to make another attempt? He’s sitting 20th and the mile does scratch a few spots, but that’s a scary position. Turlington is 21st in the 5000m, so he’ll definitely want to run something faster. Hopefully he looks better than last Friday when Mo ran him down.

Gabe is one of the first out of the 3K, so he’ll need to make another attempt. The Future had a rough conference meet, but if he can drop two seconds he’ll have a great chance in the mile.

Had dinner with an Ole board member this weekend. While he was pleased with their second place finishes, he said one thing the new AD will do is trim fat in their athletic department. He specifically mentioned they have too many head coaches in cross country/track & field and that assistants are very cheap. This could be an interesting development for Power, because there is no scenario where they will fire a female alum when she has coached both genders before. I told him about the MIAC threads, so that will be interesting reading material for their trustees and new AD's.

Believe what you want, but every college is making cuts right now. It makes sense to DOGE Ole athletics. And school that work isn’t going to cut a female alum over a male coach with conduct issues.

You mean a school that "woke"? I can guess what school you're affiliated with.

I do agree that no school should have that many head coaches and that it makes much more sense to hire multiple assistants. It will be interesting to see what the new AD does. I'm guessing the first move will be to bulk up the football staff to be on par with the rest of the conference. Alumni don't care that soccer is decent or whether track finishes second or fifth at the conference meet. They care about closing the gap to St. John's/Bethel and getting large football rosters to get bodies to campus.

Love that Power was so afraid for his miler to race The Future again that he moved him to Wartburg. In a twist of fate, The Future is now bringing his talents to Waverly. Really looking forward for this rematch.

I remember the days when you were angry at St Olaf for saving money by making Power the one head coach for XC on top of track. It's hard to stick to an argument. Side note, you earnestly plugging the Letsrun threads to this very real person (and then writing about it on here) is so funny

I think what this poster is saying is that combining the coaching staffs of men’s and women’s teams like so many MIAC teams already do would save money. Hiring a young assistant coach just out college would be much cheaper and they’re likely to work much harder resulting in more commits and more money for the college. Even hiring two assistants for $10K less than Power’s salary would be be a great investment for the school.

The nicest facility in the state, an alum base that doesnt care about football, one of two growing endowments in the MIAC, consistent year on year improvment at both the confrence and national level and you think the Oles are looking to make a change? Much to the dismay of you losers, the reign of Brian "i f*cked your mom and stormed the capital too" Power is just begining suckaz

This is all interesting. I just assumed they hired the assistant coach with head coaching experience for the inevitable moment Power's unpopularity or poor treatment of athletes costs him his job.

Although, I find it hilarious people think assistants will bring in more recruits when Maker has also cut her roster in half from the hayday of Chris Daymont.

Looks like no serious last chance 3k or 5k attempts for MIAC? Thought maybe Gabe or Mo someone would make a run at it in the 3k. Lars might be on the bubble as well.

It's hard to run fast the week after the 3K/5K double. Lars is safe. Mo shouldn't add unnecessary strain during Ramadan.

The Future is also running the mile and the Johnnies are ripping the DMR.

Can't wait to see the Johnnies crush Outdoor season. With a healthy Vince, they should be able to reclaim the Steeple U title and Tommy/Nick/Cole will all be all sub 1:55/sub 4.

Little Ihrke and the anti-Ole hero Tyler Smith squaring off in another 800 should be fun.

For some unknown reason Power entered Turlington in the slow heat of the mile instead of trying to qualify in the 5000m.

Tyler Goss also running the 5K and The Future is also entered in the 4 x 400. Makes you wonder why his 800 isn’t faster.

Congrats to the Johnnies on a new DMR school record. Stencil dropping a 4:14 anchor leg - a 10 second PR. Maxwell doesn't care about Indoor at all, but has the Johnnies rocking. Darkhorse Outdoor 1500 threat along with Nick and Tommy.
