Tim would've won that if he waited to try to go wide to the last 100. That little move right before the curve didn't make a lot of sense to me and Jakob took advantage of it and made him go wide for a bit. That's the difference in a dive to the finish race.
Are we really sure Jakob's the heavy favorite at 5k in Paris after going through the 1500 rounds? That was an incredible run
Not if they run like that!
So yes, he’s the favorite, because they never run like that.
Yeah, history tells us it would be a 13:00-10 race unless there's someone special(think generational talents) pushing the pace like Beijing Bekele or Tokyo Cheptegei. Even then it would be 12:50ish which is still not enough to run the kick out of Jakob if he peaks properly.
If you read that post one more time you might notice it says "first week of racing". While much of those two sentences are the same, there is one word that is different.
I misread. In the same light, I'm eager to see Kerr race again and goes for a fast one.
Wouldn't it be so much better to double check what you are reading rather than to come to the conclusion that someone actually think J.I had one week of training before this, including the bowerman mile?
From a Norwegian perspective, the two things I'm happiest about:
1. Henriette Jæger getting into the 50's for the 400. Given her young age, and essentially only specializing a year ago, I fully expect her to improve by a lot by 2025-2026 (but I kinda wish she would embrace her explosive qualities, and do 60-200 instead of 200-400). 2. Karoline Bjerkeli Grøvdal finally, and without dispute break Grete Waitz 1979 record for the 3000.
He lost his shoes after just 200 meters!" Nordås was disappointed after the race, felt good, but obviously had no chance the last round with no shoe on his right foot. Hopefully not to sore - running 3000 in Stockholm...
That’s gotta hurt, running on the track barefoot is a fate worse than death. Hopefully he doesn’t have any injury issues lime Grant Fisher did last year, as I suspect (I could be wrong but it’s my guess) him losing his shoe in the Bryan Clay 1500m with 200m to go had something to due with his issues.

A good act does not wash out the bad, nor a bad act the good
Can we get some love for kejelcha? All the diamond leagues he is in are SO entertaining because he is so fearless. Imagine crossing 3k at 7:41 and then clicking 60s and 59s. He never has the close to win but honestly I don't care, I don't hold that against him, and I'm still a massive fan. Without him I don't think any of the 12:40 races last year, as well as the DL 3k final, would have happened. Thumbs up if you agree.
He wasn't in the 12:40 or 12:42 race last year, and in the 12:41 race against Kiplimo (Oslo last year), he won. I love watching him race, but I don't think he gets credit for two races he wasn't in, and I think he should get credit for winning the 5k that he won from the front. It worked for him last year, so I see why he did it again, and he would've dominated more than he did last year if Gebhriwet wasn't in the monstrous shape he's in. The 3k definitely wouldn't have been as exciting as it was if he wasn't in it though.
It's true that Jakob doesn't look the same as he's done in the previous year, but it still speaks to him that he can run a world lead even when not being close to 100%.

I will probably get beat up for this but I am not convinced his training is quite as “perfect” with Henrik as it was with Gjert. 3:45 form is pretty good. Everyone is assuming he had a big injury but he has never said he lost significant training or time as a result. I thought he actually said he ran through it, just with some modifications.
perhaps not as significant but shericka jackson getting blasted and almost running 23.... doesn't look good. also, sounds like brittany brown was PISSED they assigned her lane 8...and justifiably so: she's got a faster PB than all but 3 of those women and has a faster SB than them all. brown is game. us women's sprints looking tough

Well, that is just plain wrong.
"– Å trene hver dag uten noe som helst antydning til bedring er ganske brutalt. I hvert fall når man går fire måneder gjennom det."
"To train each day without any indication of recovery is quite brutal. At least when it lasts for four months".
I agree that something is lacking the latest seasons though, last season was too much all at once.

Do you think this gives credit to some peoples theories that Jakob can run under 12:35, I mean Gebrihwet closed that fast he had to be in that shape if he had paced it perfectly?
Not every race leads me back to thinking about Jakob.
I thought Jakob could run 12:35 give or take last year. I still think he’s one of about 5 guys who could break the 5k WR on a great day with perfect pacing: Jakob, Gebrhi-jet, Kejelcha, Kiplimo, Aregawi.
